Korean restaurant course for two at Yeouido IFC Mall: Modam Urban

Where Modam Urban is in IFC Mall, and what the room feels like

Modam Urban is located at 10 Gukjegeumyung-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on the L3 floor of IFC Mall. It's a modern Korean restaurant built around slow-aging, wellness-focused dining, using fresh ingredients cooked in-house daily.

Being inside IFC Mall's L3 floor made it super easy to find. Right from the entrance, the clean, stylish 'MODAM URBAN' logo greeted me, and I walked in feeling good already.

Inside, the warm modern interior in beige and wood tones really stood out. Every light fixture seemed carefully placed, giving off a soft yet elegant glow, and there were well-equipped room-style spaces (R1, R2, R3, etc.) perfect for private group gatherings or meetings. The seating was spaced generously and the sofa seats were comfortable, making it a great fit for a meal with parents, a work meeting in Yeouido, or any group gathering.

What are the six appetizers that come with every main?

Looking at the menu, it explained that Modam Urban Yeouido includes a refined set of six appetizers (jeonsang) automatically with any main dish order!

• 2️⃣ Salad with whole-grain yuzu dressing
• 3️⃣ Sliced mushroom with truffle chamnamul (aster scaber) salad
• 4️⃣ Spicy candied mushroom gangjeong
• 5️⃣ Cold platter with smoked duck
• 6️⃣ Perilla oil cappellini

With every menu item built on multigrain rice and a health-conscious wellness concept, I felt healthier just looking at the food before even taking a bite.

The appetizer spread at Modam Urban, dish by dish

A little while later, a refined spread arrived! The tableware and plating were so clean and pretty that you could say you eat with your eyes first, starting with the appetizers.

Mung bean porridge & appetizers: the nutty, soft mung bean porridge topped with fragrant black sesame warmed my stomach right away.

The salad with fresh vegetables and a tangy dressing, the crispy-sweet-and-spicy mushroom gangjeong, the clean and nutty sliced mushroom with chamnamul salad, and the fresh smoked duck cold platter — every single dish was impressively well made.

The mains: octopus pasta and yukhoe bibimbap

The main dishes I ordered at Modam Urban were the 'octopus pasta' and the 'yukhoe bibimbap' (raw beef rice bowl)! Both are priced at 29,900 won each.

1. Octopus pasta, 29,900 won

The whole, thick, chewy octopus leg sitting right on top was seriously eye-catching! The savory, spicy, and nutty house sauce, the popping grain texture, and the springy seaweed mixed with the noodles gave off a luxurious flavor totally different from an oil or cream pasta.

2. Yukhoe bibimbap, 29,900 won

With a bright yellow egg yolk placed right on top of the fresh, nutrient-rich yukhoe (raw beef), the presentation was really neat and clean.

Loaded with fresh water dropwort and vegetables, along with spicy peppers and onions, mixing it all together with the multigrain rice, savory doenjang (soybean paste) soup, and neat side dishes gave a clean yet deep flavor.

3. Dessert: milk pudding

To finish the meal, a refreshing and smooth milk pudding was served in a cute clear bowl, cleansing the palate nicely.

59,800 won for two at Modam Urban: an honest verdict

The total for what we ordered at Modam Urban — octopus pasta at 29,900 won and yukhoe bibimbap at 29,900 won — came to 59,800 won. From the refined set of six appetizers to the high-quality mains, healthy multigrain rice and soup, and a clean dessert to finish, it felt like being properly treated to a full course, and the value for the price was excellent.
