Gwangalli pizza restaurant with cilantro birria taco: Extra Mile
In short
Extra Mile is a pizza and pasta restaurant in an alley off Suyeong-ro 554beon-gil in Gwangalli, Suyeong-gu, Busan. A couple arrived around 2pm on a weekend, joined the Catchtable waitlist, and paid 48,500 won for the Classic Combo for two: a half birria taco, half potato pizza with cheese crust added, plus bisque cream pasta. The birria taco side comes with cilantro, but the dough stayed chewy even with the toppings scraped off, and Extra Mile makes a quiet Western meal just off the busy Gwangalli strip.

Today I want to introduce a Western-style restaurant with such great vibes that I visited last weekend. 👩🏻❤️👨🏻 It's such a good date spot too, and it seems perfect for eating quietly away from the noisy center of Gwangalli 🍽️ and then grabbing a coffee nearby ☕️. A Gwangalli pizza restaurant worth knowing! Let me introduce it now!

A small sign in an alley building, marked by a blue plate
If you follow the map, you'll spot a building tucked in the alley 🏠 — muted in color yet decorated to look like some pretty European house.
They don't hang a big sign with the name Extra Mile, so you might miss it, but just look for the building with the 💙pretty blue plate hanging💙 and go in.

How long the wait was at 2pm on a weekend
Going up the stairs, there's a Catchtable waitlist machine, so if there are people waiting you can join the queue there. I visited right around 2pm and there was still a wait. I'd heard it was a new hot spot, and it seemed word had already spread to bring in plenty of guests. 🫧

You can check out the exterior in the photos. Compared to what's around it, the building has a standout feel. I could tell right away it'd be a nice-vibe restaurant, so I waited. After a bit, a friendly staff member came out calling numbers and guided us in.

Clean white tones + soft wood accents + brick interior + rough-textured plant pots + floor-to-ceiling windows! The atmosphere was so pretty I ended up taking a record number of photos. 📸 I don't usually take a lot of selfies or photos these days, but if you want a nice-vibe restaurant and some great life photos, the building's interior and exterior alone make it a fantastic photo zone — you'll be very satisfied. 👍🏻

In the waiting area, they thoughtfully set up a sun shade so you can wait comfortably in the shade. ☀️ After passing such a pretty entrance space, let's head inside!
Inside Extra Mile: the room and the crayons on the tables

The interior is really clean too. Being newly opened it's spotless ✨, and bright ☀️ all around with light wood tones 🪵, plant pots dotted here and there 🪴, sunlight pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows ☀️, and the clear sky ☁️ and green plants visible outside 🍀 all made for an even better seat.
I also felt like every single detail inside the store had been carefully placed — the plant pots, plates, table settings 🍽️, everything felt arranged, which made me look forward to the food even more. 🤤

And apparently you can draw with special crayons — they had these cute crayons set out at each table. 🖍️ We didn't use them, but after a table with a baby left, staff were busily erasing away. 😅 If you're coming to eat with kids, letting the kids draw while the adults eat slowly at their own pace seems like a real win-win item for both kids and parents (haha).
What the 48,500-won Classic Combo for two includes

We sat down and ordered. Every table had plates and utensils prettily set. The menu was in Korean and English, front and back. This whole sensibility was so pretty that photos came out gorgeous — I ended up snapping the menu once more, all prettily set, just to record it.

My husband and I went as a pair, so we ordered the Classic Combo (set for two). It came with one pizza + one pasta, and the pizza could be split half-and-half, so we did that.
- ✔️ Pizza — birria taco, potato, half-and-half x1 (+ added cheese crust)
- ✔️ Pasta — bisque cream x1
- ✔️ Coke Zero x1
- ✅ Total ₩48,500

Pickles were set up all around the tables for self-serve 🥒, and by the entrance they had hangers and a coat rack for outerwear, 👔 plus disposable aprons. (Great attention to detail 👍🏻)
When the food arrived, I filmed the whole spread. The colors alone were insane...‼️ I'd really been craving Western food 🍽️, and the moment I saw how it looked, I thought — glad I came.

Does the birria taco pizza have cilantro?
➡️ 🍕We ordered the half-and-half pizza, so the left side is birria taco 🌮 and the right is potato. 🍟 The birria taco's main ingredients are beef, cilantro salsa, and sour cream. I didn't know cilantro was in the birria taco when I ordered, and even after the first bite I couldn't quite tell? My husband tried it first and said, 'Oh, that's cilantro!' 🌿 — that's when I noticed. (lol) Once I knew, I could taste it right away. 😅

Neither my husband nor I are really cilantro people, so we ate some and then scraped off all the toppings on top — even then, the beef sauce had soaked into the dough and it was delicious. The cilantro was cut super finely on top, so we removed the toppings, but the beef seasoning was so well soaked into the dough 🥩 that if you're someone who genuinely enjoys cilantro, you'd be extremely satisfied. ♥️

Even after we'd scraped off nearly all the toppings, the dough was still chewy and packed with cheese crust, giving it a savory + salty combo that was so good. >ㅁ<

Potato pizza with two layers: fried and sliced potato
The part shown in front is the potato pizza, with ingredients listed as dubaek potato, truffle oil, and bacon. On top, the potato was cut thin and long and fried 🍟, lightly salted so it was salty, and being fried gave it such great texture. Under the thinly fried potato 🥔 was a layer of slightly less-cooked (?) sliced potato, which gave it a crunchy texture that paired well with the fried potato — really delicious. Since I already love French fries, this pizza nailed both flavor and texture 🍕, which made it even more satisfying for me.

Likewise, it was surprising how the pizza dough stayed chewy and savory even after cooling down over time. I looked it up, and apparently Extra Mile makes its dough in-house using premium Italian flour and the biga pre-fermentation method, going through a long, low-temperature aging process — which is why the inside stays chewy and the more you chew, the more savory flavor the dough gives off. I'm no expert, but it seems like any dish made with time and care ends up doing that, and this was a pizza that satisfied both the eyes and the mouth. 🤍

Bisque cream pasta with shrimp and gamtae (green seaweed)
🍝Next is the bisque cream pasta, with ingredients listed as shrimp, Reggiano cheese, gamtae (dried seaweed laver), and parsley. The house-made sauce came tossed with springy, well-cooked noodles along with plump shrimp 🍤

Finely grated cheese and thin sheets of gamtae on top made it look pretty and, being a combination of ingredients you don't often get to eat, it tasted unfamiliar yet pleasant.
Why Extra Mile works for a weekend lunch in Gwangalli
My husband and I don't usually take many photos, but that day we took a ton. The happiness that a pretty space gives 🫧, combined with pretty plating and food that nailed the taste too, kept me pressing the shutter over and over. 📷 Looking back at the photos, it had that kitchen vibe you'd see in an American movie — comfortable yet warm and soft — and I loved it so much.
- ✔️ The restaurant sits in a quiet alley, so you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere
- ✔️ Inside the store too, you can enjoy a warm vibe and delicious food
For these and other reasons, I thought it was a great restaurant for a weekend lunch.

I'm not great at (or into) taking these aesthetic photos (?), but that day I took them from every angle. If we go back to Extra Mile, the new hot spot in Gwangalli, these are probably the reasons why.
- ✔️ Located in a quiet neighborhood
- ✔️ Pinterest-worthy interior vibe
- ✔️ A space that photographs beautifully
- ✔️ Next-level chewy pizza dough
- ✔️ Friendly staff
If you want to escape the crowds on a weekend afternoon and enjoy good food in a quiet, pretty place, I recommend giving this one a try.
