I was really craving moist, tender bossam today, so after work I searched for a good bossam spot and ended up at [ Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch ] 🥩

There's also a lunch special — a bowl of kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) is ₩10,000, and the bossam or jjukkumi (spicy octopus) set meals are in the low ₩10,000s, so the value was pretty good haha. For anyone visiting at lunchtime, the lunch special seemed like a great way to get a meal without breaking the bank 😊

It's not just bossam — they also have jjukkumi and kalguksu, so it was nice to pick according to your taste haha.

What I ordered at Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch was the small five-layer bossam with a free choice of dongjuk kalguksu (clam noodle soup) or makguksu, plus an added rice ball. The basic side dishes were pickled onion, seasoned bean sprouts, and seasoned angelica leaves.

The basic side dishes — pickled onion, seasoned bean sprouts, seasoned angelica leaves — weren't a huge variety, but trying each one, they were seasoned just right and delicious..!!

I ordered the small five-layer bossam with the free choice (dongjuk kalguksu or makguksu), plus an added rice ball!! Even the small size came with a really generous portion haha. The makguksu wasn't a skimpy free-item portion either — it was basically a full menu-sized serving, perfect to eat alongside the bossam 🫢

The bossam looked amazing from the start haha. It was tender and moist, so I ate it right away, and the meat was soft without being chewy — it just went down easily. The dried radish was also spicy-sweet, and it went really well with the bossam 😋 The pepper sauce in the middle was spicy too, and wrapping it up with the bossam meat made for an amazing combo ㅠ

I made a proper wrap too!! The wrap cabbage was fresh and generously given, so I piled on a piece of meat and some dried radish and ate it up haha. Bossam really is best eaten as one big wrap like this >_<

The makguksu that came with the set gets mixed for you too haha. The sauce was moistly soaked in, so I was drooling just mixing it ㅠㅠㅋㅋㅋㅋ

The tangy flavor was just the right amount, not too intense, and it went well with the rice ball too. And of course, pairing it with bossam is unbeatable haha. Taking a bite of makguksu between bites of meat totally cleanses the palate 🥰

How the five-layer pork tasted

What really surprised me about Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch was that even though it's a bossam restaurant, you can also eat in an outdoor patio setting!! There were people enjoying bossam with soju at the outdoor tables, and having bossam and a glass of soju on the patio after work was seriously romantic 🍻

You can see just how great a food bossam is haha. It's a genuinely healthy dish ㅋㅋㅋ eating meat together with vegetables makes it a healthy meal any way you look at it 😎

Side dish refills, extra charges and Naver perks

It says side dish refills are self-serve, but when I told the staff, they brought everything over for me haha. So I didn't have to go back and forth, which was convenient!! Do note that wrap cabbage and kimchi filling come with an extra charge.
