A self-photo studio recommendation: U&E Studio Seongsu

For our wedding anniversary, I wanted to leave a special memory, so I booked a self-photo studio in Seongsu 💖 Here's my review of U&E Studio Seongsu, where we shot freely in a private space and left with some great anniversary photos.

Location & how to get there

U&E Studio Seongsu is about an 8-minute walk from Exit 5 of Children's Grand Park Station on Line 7 (booking in advance on Naver is a must!). It's on the 3rd floor of the building — there's no elevator, but the stairs aren't steep so it's a quick climb.

Note that the restroom is half a floor down. As for parking, you can park behind the building on a first-come, first-served basis, and if it's full, they said you can use the nearby Hwayang-dong or Songjeong-dong public parking lots.

Arrive right on time, not early

One thing to watch out for: the staff need setup time, so you absolutely have to enter right at your reserved time (•̀∀•́)✧ We arrived 10 minutes early and the door was still locked, so we waited a bit — a staff member came about 5 minutes before our time and opened up. I'd recommend not arriving too early, and coming as close to your reservation time as possible.

After check-in, you switch into the indoor slippers right by the entrance and head to the studio at the end of the innermost hallway. Outside shoes are absolutely not allowed on the cyclorama! If you're bringing your own shoes for the shoot, make sure the soles are clean to avoid a cleaning fee.

You get a total of 1 hour: 5 minutes to prep, 45 minutes to shoot, and 10 minutes to wrap up and leave — sticking to the time is mandatory.

What the inside looks like

Once you walk into the studio, there's a sofa set up, so it's easy to sit comfortably while changing into your shooting shoes.

Before shooting, a staff member kindly walked us through how to use the space, how to shoot, and how to use the remote — she also showed us a separate emergency remote we could use to call for help if anything went wrong, which was reassuring. Once the explanation was done, she left and it was just the two of us shooting completely privately!

In front of the huge white 4M cyclorama backdrop, everything was perfectly set up — a professional camera, flash that pops brightly, and a big monitor for checking shots in real time.

The camera, lighting equipment, and iMac can't be moved or adjusted at all, so you just use them as set. Also, CCTV is installed inside to protect the facilities, and open flames like candles or eating food is prohibited for fire safety, so make sure to follow the basic rules.

The arch part of the cyclorama is made of wood and can be fragile, so be careful not to run or stomp hard on it in your shoes.

Props & dress rental

Toward the left side inside the studio, there's a neatly arranged changing room and powder room vanity.

The vanity was fully stocked with a hair dryer, curling iron, and even a steam iron, all free to use comfortably.

They're currently running a review event where you get free outfit and dress rentals, so of course I jumped right in! Lol (there's a ₩20,000 deposit).

The dresses were mainly in white and black, with a variety of styles, and there were also white dress shirts, jackets, and pants.

There were even cute kids' outfits for boys and girls hanging up 👗👕

There were also several pairs of shoes to match the dresses — I brought my own shoes, but honestly I didn't really need to!

On one side, there was a pile of props great for occasions like bridal showers, baby showers, and maternity shoots!

From funny sunglasses to ribbon balloons, heart balloons, fake cake models, cute dolls, artificial flowers, and giant gift boxes — every single prop was free to use with no extra charge, which felt really generous 🎶

How to shoot & tips

We started shooting freely for 45 minutes, pressing the Bluetooth remote!

You could check the photos in real time on the monitor right in front of you, which was great for adjusting composition and expressions d=(´▽｀)=b Just note that if you press the remote too fast in a row, the flash might not fire, so you need to give it a little space between shots.

And a few shooting tips for anyone trying this out~! First, make sure to look at the camera lens, not the monitor! Since the monitor screen is big, we kept unconsciously looking at it while shooting, so a lot of our photos ended up with our eyes looking off to the side lol T_T

Second, the camera is positioned a bit lower than you'd expect, so sitting in a chair gives a much prettier composition than standing, and tucking your chin in always photographs better. Third, there's a phone tripod set up to the left of the shooting camera, so I'd definitely recommend turning on time-lapse to record a video of your whole shoot!

There were also 3 types of centerpieces available, so early on we decorated the background with lush artificial flowers, then later cleared everything away and shot simple, clean shots.

Since it was our 2nd wedding anniversary, we held a giant number '2' balloon for some simple photos and also used a bunch of props for playful shots. We were a bit stiff and awkward at first, but as we went along we gradually found our own angles and expressions and got more natural ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

On one wall, they had reference photos of poses pinned up, which was really helpful whenever we ran out of pose ideas.

And on the other side, there was a large mirror! It was big enough to check your look, and you could even take mirror shots — being able to check yourself right away while shooting was great✨

This photo is from when we tried on the rental outfits! We shot in our own clothes first, and once we got a bit bored, I changed into the white dress and my husband just added the black jacket, so we got a whole different vibe in our photos 😆

We also got a pretty shot with the bouquet we'd received as a gift haha 💐

Final thoughts

What I really loved about U&E Studio Seongsu was the private space — we could freely press the remote and shoot comfortably without anyone else's eyes on us! We were a bit awkward at first, but as we shot, we ended up capturing our own goofy smiles and natural poses that really felt like us, all as a record of our anniversary.

The 45 minutes flew by while we were shooting, so it ended up feeling shorter than expected — I think if you plan out some poses beforehand, you'd get even more satisfying results.

The original photos get sent to the email you registered when booking, and they sent them super fast, just 10 minutes after our shoot ended, so we could check them right away on our way home~~🌟
