Exterior of Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch

To celebrate the end of a project Jattongi had been working on, we met up for dinner at Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch, a well-known BBQ spot in Sangbong. The restaurant sits right in the Sangbong food alley, close to Exit 3 of Sangbong Station.

Nearly full even on a weeknight

Even though it was a weekday evening, the place was almost completely full when we got there...! Luckily two seats were open so we didn't have to wait haha. Since it hadn't been open long, the interior was spotless — tables, chairs and floor all free of grease!

Ordering frozen pork belly at ₩9,900 a serving

Frozen pork belly is the main event at this Sangbong Korean BBQ restaurant, and it's an unbelievable ₩9,900 a serving — under 10,000 won!! We ordered four servings of frozen pork belly (150g/₩9,900) plus a Hangang ramyeon (₩3,900).

Cooking your own Hangang ramyeon at the self-service bar

After ordering, it's over to the self-service bar to make ramyeon (instant noodles)~ You can also grab extra side dishes here, and choose one of jin bibim myeon, shin ramyeon, anseong tangmyeon, yeolla myeon, jin ramyeon, jjashuran, or buldak bokkeummyeon to make your own self-service Hangang ramyeon!

I went with my usual, jin ramyeon~ You just put the noodles and soup base into the container and press the button — that's it!

Kimchi, minari, and bean sprouts to grill alongside the meat

While the ramyeon machine was doing its thing, we headed back to our table to find kimchi, minari, bean sprouts, green onion kimchi, pickles, ssamjang, salt-oil sauce, and lettuce wraps already set out — all great for grilling on the pan alongside the meat.

And the frozen pork belly itself was piled up like a mountain!!

A plate piled high with frozen pork belly

Right away they put mushrooms, minari, and the kimchi varieties on the grill along with the pork belly, and sprinkled on some pepper from the shaker on the table!

Frozen pork belly is thin so it cooks fast, which was perfect for us since we were starving haha.

Once we grabbed the ramyeon from the machine, it was time to really dig in!

Look how nicely browned it got on both sides!

Cooked pork belly resting on top of kimchi

Since the pork belly cooks so fast, once a batch is done we set it on top of the kimchi and put more frozen pork belly on the grill. That way you can eat non-stop without any lulls hahaha.

Pop a piece of well-cooked kimchi on top and eat it in one bite! The pork belly has zero gamy smell — it's nutty and clean-tasting, so you just keep putting more in your mouth!

Not three servings for two, but four

The frozen pork belly at this Sangbong Korean BBQ restaurant has a great meat-to-fat ratio and doesn't feel greasy, so what should've been three servings for two of us turned into four hahaha. Since the bean sprout salad, green onion kimchi, and kimchi were all available at the self-service bar, we piled them onto the grill and wrapped bite after bite of meat with kimchi, no holding back.

The fragrant minari pairs really well with the frozen pork belly too~

Grilled kimchi coated in meat fat

The kimchi soaks up the meat's fat evenly, so grilling it makes it taste way better than eating it plain hahaha.

Finished self-service Hangang ramyeon

Who needs to go to the actual Han River when you can eat Hangang ramyeon right here at this Sangbong Korean BBQ restaurant~~~

Chewy, well-cooked noodles that are amazing topped with meat or kimchi! Grilled kimchi is a total match made in heaven with the ramyeon too haha.

Value for money, summed up

Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch offers frozen pork belly at a ridiculous ₩9,900 a serving, and the value is genuinely great!! It's not a small portion either, so two of us got completely full on the meat alone hahaha. It also cooks fast, so the meal never hit a lull. If you want to eat pork belly until you're stuffed without breaking the bank, I'd definitely recommend a visit~!!
