LA-style galbi charcoal BBQ near Uijeongbu Station: Supsok Oki Jip
In short
Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch is a charcoal short rib restaurant one minute on foot from Exit 3 of Uijeongbu Station in Gyeonggi. On this repeat visit the writer grilled diced beef short rib, imperial rib finger, and homemade LA galbi side by side with a curry and gopchang (beef intestine) hot pot set, and once again crowned the LA galbi eaten over white rice as the favorite. A Uijeongbu BBQ spot the writer keeps coming back to whenever the cravings hit.

When I think about where to eat meat in Uijeongbu, one place that always comes to mind is Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch. Honestly I've lost count of how many times I've been here. It's not a place I tried once or twice and recommended — I've gone back so many times it's basically my go-to spot.

This time I visited again because I couldn't stop craving galbi (short rib). Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch is only about a minute on foot from Exit 3 of Uijeongbu Station. You're there right after you step out, so it's a really convenient Uijeongbu Station restaurant to reach by public transit.

Forest-themed interior — good for a date too?
I've been here many times, but every time I walk in the entrance, my mood lifts. True to its name, Supsok Oki Jip ('forest Oki's house') is decorated like you're actually stepping into a forest. It doesn't feel like your typical BBQ spot at all — more like something out of a fairy tale, which catches your eye right from the entrance. Coming here for meat and having the walk-in itself be pretty just makes me happy for no reason.

The forest mood continues inside, giving the whole space an atmospheric feel. So I'd say this isn't just a Uijeongbu Station restaurant for meat — it also works as a date spot. I'd recommend it to couples who want to eat BBQ somewhere with real atmosphere.

Seating is on both the 1st and 2nd floors, so it works better than you'd expect for larger groups too. Great for dates, but also for hanging out with friends or group get-togethers.
The ₩10,000 curry + gopchang hot pot add-on
There were two of us this time. As soon as we sat down, they set the table with the basic side dishes — soup, a dipping sauce for the meat, kimchi, all the simple stuff that pairs well with BBQ.
Curry + gopchang (beef intestine) hot pot, ₩10,000. Pay an extra ₩10,000 and you get curry and gopchang hot pot, which go perfectly alongside the meat. The curry has a bit of a kick, so eating a spoonful partway through the meal really resets your palate. Eating only meat can get a bit greasy toward the end, but having spicy curry on hand makes for a great combo.

The gopchang hot pot was great too. Barely any of that characteristic offal smell, and it's loaded with perilla seeds so the broth is nutty and rich. Bubbling away hot, one spoonful of the broth and there's only one thing that comes to mind — this is soju anju (drinking food) territory. You come for the BBQ and end up thoroughly finishing off the hot pot broth too, haha.

Diced beef short rib, ₩23,000 for 2 servings

Thick-cut and looking absolutely full of juice at first glance. This is unseasoned short rib meat, so if you're someone who loves the flavor of the meat itself, the diced beef short rib is the one to order.

Grilled golden-brown over the charcoal, it takes on that proper charcoal aroma, and it's genuinely delicious. Since it's not heavily seasoned, dipping the well-grilled meat lightly in salt lets the savory meat flavor come through fully. This is exactly why I love charcoal-grilled meat.

Imperial rib finger, ₩16,000 for 2 servings

If the diced beef short rib is for enjoying the meat's natural flavor, the imperial rib finger is going to suit people who like sweet-savory marinated ribs. There's a generous pile of garlic on top of the seasoned rib finger, but if you're Korean, that much garlic is nothing — bring it on.

As it grills over the charcoal and the marinade starts to caramelize slightly, the aroma alone is insane. Eating the garlic along with it really brings out the umami, and with that classic sweet-salty marinated-rib flavor, my chopsticks kept going back for more.

Homemade LA galbi, ₩22,000 for 2 servings — my favorite dish

This is my absolute favorite dish here. In fact, this visit happened because I kept going on and on about craving galbi. The other dishes are delicious too, but whenever I come here I always end up reaching for the LA galbi.

Grilling the LA galbi over charcoal carefully so the marinade doesn't burn, the smell alone should honestly be illegal. The meat is super tender and the sweet-savory marinade isn't overly strong, so you just keep eating it.

And when it comes to LA galbi, nothing beats white rice. Put a freshly charcoal-grilled piece of LA galbi on top of hot white rice and eat them together, and it's genuinely next level. It's not for nothing that I think of this place every time I crave galbi. A spoonful of rice, a bite of galbi, more rice, more galbi — it's an infinite loop, haha.
Which of the three ribs should you order?
Uijeongbu Station restaurant | Supsok Oki Jip
From the diced beef short rib to the imperial rib finger to the homemade LA galbi, the flavors are all distinctly different, so if you're a group, I'd recommend ordering one of each to try them all! Obviously I'm voting for the LA galbi.
Supsok Oki Jip is right near Uijeongbu Station, so it's easy to get to, and the interior is pretty enough that I often recommend it to people around me — a Uijeongbu Station restaurant I keep going back to. And honestly, the fact that I've personally revisited so many times is probably the most reliable review I can give, haha. I've been so many times I can't even count, and yet whenever galbi crosses my mind, this place comes right back up.
Another successful visit!! Way past 'repeat visit' at this point, more like 'repeat repeat repeat repeat visit,' so the next time I want galbi in Uijeongbu, I'll probably be back here again. If you're looking for good charcoal short rib or LA galbi near Uijeongbu Station, give Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch a try. You might end up becoming a regular like me before you know it, haha.
