A retro-vibe Nonhyeon bar

Sanhocho Nonhyeon has slightly different interior vibes inside versus outside, but it's basically built around a retro pocha (street-food tent) concept.

Since we came early, we sat in the section with the retro interior further inside, depending on taste. It kind of feels like an old-money house from the past~

The inside, with colorful decorations and warm lighting. Various trinkets and liquor bottles catch the eye.

The outside section, which really nails that outdoor pocha feeling — great for a second round or a late-night drinking session in Nonhyeon. Some tables were already going strong even though it was just opening time.

Must be super romantic when it rains! It's actually open-air, so wherever you sit you get that full retro pocha vibe haha.
The fun of picking from the menu

What we ordered that day was the top-selling three-kind sashimi. I wanted mackerel and sea shrimp, and my companion was craving live squid and sea shrimp — perfect match.
The price is ₩77,000. You can pick whichever combination you want from a range of fish species,

and we chose to add sea shrimp for +₩2,000 and live squid for +₩2,000. So ₩81,000 total. If you want to eat a bunch of different seafood at once, this kind of combo is perfect.
The side dishes matter more than you'd think

What came out as the basic sides were perilla-seed bean sprout salad, baek kimchi (white kimchi), water dropwort salad, silkworm pupae, seaweed, and fermented squid. I was debating whether to order more, but it even came with sushi rice for wrapping.

My personal favorite here was the water dropwort salad.
You put live mackerel sashimi on seaweed and wrap it together with the water dropwort salad — the seasoning is sweet and tangy, absolutely great.

There's also a guide on how to eat it best, but the staff explained it to us again in person haha.
From live mackerel to sea shrimp
The main three-kind sashimi that came out — visually, an instant 100 out of 100.

That golden jelly-looking thing on top is made from bonito flakes (gatsuobushi), and it's refreshing and a bit tangy.

It suited my palate so I ate it as a palate cleanser, but my companion didn't seem into it — ate one piece then picked the rest off.

Opinions on the jelly might be split, but visually it's genuinely a beautiful presentation.

Live mackerel, live squid, and sea shrimp all on one plate — a combo that'll make any seafood lover's eyes go wide haha.
Since they specialize in mackerel sashimi, mackerel first! Put the live mackerel sashimi on seaweed with the water dropwort salad and wrap it up~

The mackerel's distinct flavor plus the water dropwort's aroma really work together — genuinely delicious.

Topping it with fermented squid is also a winning move~

The baek kimchi was genuinely tasty baek kimchi, so we asked for more to wrap with haha.

The sea shrimp fire chicken mayo combo
And you know how the sea shrimp + fire chicken mayo combo is totally trending these days!!!
Sanhocho gives you a sauce with a fire chicken mayo feel alongside the sea shrimp — nice touch. Of course, the classic garlic oil sauce + vinegar-chili sauce combo is also top-tier.

Eating the live squid alongside it means the texture keeps changing even within one plate, so there's never a dull moment as a drinking snack~
A bit brutal, but so delicious — even the butter-grilled shrimp heads, slurped right down.
Sanhocho Nonhyeon overall verdict and recommendation

Seasonal seafood waits for no one! A place I liked because you can enjoy multiple kinds of seafood at once — live mackerel, sea shrimp, and live squid.

Among Nonhyeon bars, this one has spacious seating, fresh seasonal seafood, and a wide variety of snacks, so I highly recommend it for a group dinner too! Worth remembering if you're looking for a seafood pocha in Nonhyeon or a spot to drink late into the night.
