Where is Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Yangju Branch, and where do you park?
This Okjeong pork belly favorite, Mat Chandeul, sits in the Okjeong central commercial district, inside the Buja-ro Tower!! You can use the underground parking lot.
It's a fairly large barbecue place within the commercial complex, located on the first floor — everyone who lives in Okjeong knows this place!!!

Inside on a weekday evening: does Mat Chandeul take groups?
The interior of Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Yangju Branch was really spacious, so it looked great for group gatherings or family get-togethers! I visited on a weekday and there were already so many guests inside, haha.
And when the weather's nice, they open the full windows wide — it was cool and pleasant in the evening. As soon as I walked in, the delicious smell of pork belly wafted out, and there were tons of staff and part-timers inside,,

What side dishes come with the pork belly?
After ordering, the side dishes that come out are various pickles and sauces!!!!! There's a good variety of pickled banchan so you can enjoy the meat in different ways. The lettuce wraps that came with it were fresh too.

What three servings of 14-day aged pork belly cost
I ordered three servings of the 14-day aged raw pork belly!!!!! Alongside that I also ordered doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), rice, and cold buckwheat noodles.
Raw pork belly, 3 servings: ₩51,000 / Doenjang stew: ₩5,000 / 2 bowls of rice: ₩3,000 / Cold buckwheat noodles: ₩5,000 — order confirmed
You can tell just by looking how thick it is, right? And since it's aged pork belly, it's even more delicious.

Do staff grill the meat for you? The thermometer-checked first sear
The biggest advantage of this Okjeong pork belly favorite, Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Yangju Branch, is that they grill the meat for you!!!! The older I get, the more of a hassle grilling meat at a barbecue place feels, you know? These days a place that actually grills it for you is just the best.

They even use a thermometer while grilling — the meat comes out perfectly cooked....

Ugh ㅠㅠ I like thick pork belly like this way more than the thin kind!! It's genuinely packed full of juices inside ㅜㅜㅜ

Order the doenjang stew as early as you can
If you're planning to order the stew and cold noodles, I'd recommend ordering them early!! Maybe because they have so many customers, they come out later than you'd expect,,haha
Wow, it's a ₩5,000 stew but the portion is genuinely generous,, there's so much stuff inside that it goes great with rice.

Mat Chandeul's signature dipping and topping combo
Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Yangju Branch's signature is a plate of four pieces of meat topped with various things — visually it looks so delicious, right??? Oh, and the salted shrimp is genuinely best eaten cooked,,, the banchan combination the staff put together was really great too?

Aged kimchi is better cooked than raw too — eating it this way really brought out more of that deep, savory flavor??

Cold noodles, mixed-style: better value than the stew
Ugh, I regretted not ordering the cold buckwheat noodles sooner, hahaha ㅠㅠ It was more delicious than the stew!! That might be because I'm more of a noodle person than a rice person, but I genuinely thought the cold noodles were way tastier.
The noodles themselves are made from corn, which makes it even better. You can also choose mixed-style or in broth — I'm a mixed-style person so I went with that!!!

I kept it simple with just one bottle of soju. Ugh, seriously highly recommend it if you love thick pork belly — go visit this Okjeong pork belly favorite in Yangju, Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Yangju Branch!!!!!!
