What's on the menu at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch?

Hekbap, a Japanese home-style restaurant, is on the 2nd floor of the building. There's a menu board right at the entrance listing rice bowls, soba, ramen, cutlets, udon, and curry, so it's great that you can check the menu before you even go in ˎˊ˗
Inside Hekbap Kkachisan Branch

Hekbap is a place I order delivery from often and also visit now and then since it's near Kkachisan Station ❤︎ The space is spacious and comfortable, with tables set nicely apart.

There's a baby chair too, so it seemed perfect for families coming with a little one! 👼🏻

There's a bar-style counter table too, so it's a comfortable space for solo dining. The menu is just so wide-ranging and easy to enjoy 𓂃꙳⋆
Sanitised tableware at the table
You pull the utensils out of the table drawer yourself, and both the chopsticks and spoon come wrapped hygienically in paper, so no dust gets on them — I loved this clean touch 🤍
Hair ties for diners

Every table has pepper and shichimi in paper cups, and a container of disposable wasabi. They even thoughtfully provided hair ties in case your hair gets in the way while eating — that really touched me 🥹
What we ordered at Hekbap and the prices

We ordered the spicy pork rib rice bowl, a zero-sugar cola, and the pork jowl rice bowl set (with 5 pieces of karaage) for +₩4,900.

When you order, it comes out neatly arranged on a tray with a bunch of side dishes, all in one tidy spread ✌️!

The long shishito peppers on top as a topping — I usually don't eat peppers, but these were grilled so they weren't spicy and went down soft, making them great with rice.

I love the appetizer salad before the meal. Eating the cabbage salad helps raise blood sugar more slowly, and it's tossed in a nutty peanut dressing — savory and sweet .ᐟ
How does Hekbap's best-selling marinated pork rib rice bowl taste?

The spicy pork rib rice bowl is Hekbap's best-selling menu item. It's a combo of ribs marinated sweet and salty with white rice.

The rib seasoning had just the right sweet balance, and it's genuinely delicious with almost no one disliking it — there's a reason it's Hekbap's best menu item 🤍 Tip: try it with the disposable fresh wasabi set out on the table too. It adds a tingling kick to the meat, cuts the richness, and makes it even more delicious.

There are tiny mushrooms and grilled scallions mixed in among the ribs too, and they go perfectly with the seasoned ribs. I also piled on plenty of the tangy pickled radish side.

Seasoned ribs with wasabi . . 💗
Pork jowl rice bowl set with udon and clear soup

This is the pork jowl rice bowl set. The pork jowl is spicy-sweet seasoned, and the pork rib is sweet-salty seasoned — switching back and forth between the two rice bowls was really appealing.

The pork jowl is chewy yet savory, and the meat quality is good with no gamey smell. This spicy-sweet seasoning especially is genuinely delicious. It's not too spicy either, so even people who can't handle spice like me can enjoy it just fine.
Karaage add-on: 5 pieces for 4,900 won

The set menu includes udon and 2 pieces of karaage. We added ₩4,900 to get 5 pieces of karaage instead! Because the karaage here is just so good.

Fresh out of the fryer, warm, and with a crispy coating — while the inside stays soft and juicy, that's the charm. Eating it with the nutty mayo sauce that comes with it is a perfect match 🤍

The udon included in the set also has springy noodles. The udon broth has a rich flavor too, and with just the right portion, it's filling and nice to have in between bites of the rice bowl.

This savory soup is great too. Sipping it between bites of rice is just perfect 🤍!
The side dish: cheese rice cake

Regulars at Hekbap already know this well, but this cheese rice cake that comes as a side dish is genuinely delicious ♥

There's savory cheese inside, and it's chewy and stretchy. They also thoughtfully drizzle honey underneath the rice cake, so eating it sweet is just so good. It's perfect to eat like a dessert after the meal ❤︎

At the exit, they even had things like Febreze and hair ties set out for customers. With neat, hearty Japanese home-style dishes you can mix and match to your taste, and a space that's spacious and comfortable to visit any time — that's Hekbap Kkachisan Branch 🤍!
