Gyukatsu restaurant in Seoul Station with cheese and mochi: Ichigyu

In short

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a brazier-grilled gyukatsu (Japanese breaded beef cutlet) restaurant on basement level 1 of the LG Seoul Station Building in Jung-gu, Seoul. On a weekend lunch visit the writer ordered the most basic gyukatsu, topped it with butter and seared it briefly on the tabletop brazier, then grilled cheese and mochi rice cake from the in-store event alongside it. Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch has a set last order time, so checking Naver Reservation before going is worth it.

Ever struggle to decide what to eat near Seoul Station? I'm the type who searches endlessly and still can't decide, so I totally get it haha. This weekend I went to lunch at Ichigyu Seoul Station, and to cut to the chase — it was a solid pick for a work lunch or a Seoul Station date course!! There's also the fun of grilling gyukatsu yourself over a brazier, so let me walk through the full review.

What is Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch like?

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a Japanese-style beef restaurant where you grill your own gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) over a tabletop brazier. The whole cuts of aging beef hanging at the entrance caught my eye right away — the beef is breaded and deep-fried rare, then each guest grills it to their own liking at the table.

If you need a lunch spot near Seoul Station for a work meetup, want a quick meal at Seoul Station, or are looking for something a little different for a Seoul Station date, I'd recommend Ichigyu Seoul Station.

This time I went with the most basic option — gyukatsu! There are set menus that pair gyukatsu with other dishes too, which is great for sharing with company. The standard set comes with rice, miso soup, and side dishes, and you can choose how to dip it — soy sauce, wasabi, salt, and more were all prepared to suit your taste.

Weekend lunch gyukatsu: honest taste review

Gyukatsu served rare at Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch

I visited for weekend lunch, and what I liked best was how tender and juicy the meat was. Grilling the rare gyukatsu just lightly on the brazier kept the outside crispy while the inside stayed moist and juicy.

Grilling it with butter on the brazier let a subtle buttery aroma soak in, really boosting the flavor. The sauce lineup was solid too — personally, the wasabi and chili sauce combo suited my taste best.

Joining the store event let me grill cheese and mochi (rice cake) alongside my meal — the cheese stretched beautifully, great for photos too.

One drawback was that the last order time is fixed, so it was a bit tricky to plan a leisurely visit time. So if you're planning to go, I'd recommend using Naver Reservation!
