Sunday 1pm gyukatsu set for two at Seoul Station restaurant Ichigyu

My boyfriend and I stopped by Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch for a gyukatsu (beef cutlet) lunch date near Seoul Station. Since Line 4, the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, and Line 1 all overlap here, it's also a solid pick for meeting friends for lunch or dinner in Seoul. We had gyukatsu — here's the review, let's go.

Is there a wait at Ichigyu Seoul Station at 1pm on a Sunday?

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 10 of Seoul Station, and I visited on a Sunday at 1pm for lunch. There were a lot of people inside. Even so, since it was Sunday lunch, there was no wait. I have a feeling Saturday lunch might come with a wait though. It's on the basement floor, yet somehow everyone seems to know about it — the place was packed.

Ichigyu Seoul Station parking and seating: is solo dining okay?

The restaurant size felt right, with tables ranging from 2-seaters to 4-seaters. Plenty of people were dining solo too, so I'd also recommend it as a solo lunch spot near Seoul Station. Parking is available — paid parking on basement level 2 of the building, 1,000 won per 10 minutes, or 6,000 won per hour.

What is on the menu at Ichigyu Seoul Station?

The main menu item is gyukatsu, but beyond that there's steak, omurice, curry, cold soba, and more. Think of it as a Japanese restaurant that has all the classic dishes, with gyukatsu as the star.

We ordered the sirloin gyukatsu set for two. It's 19,500 won per person, and the rice is unlimited refills. When two people dine together, the rice comes served together in one bowl to share — you portion it out yourselves.

Each table gets one cast-iron brazier — not one per person, but one shared between two. It's the kind of place that's great for a Seoul Station date with your crush, haha.

They also give you butter, and it tastes better if you melt the butter first before putting the meat on. The brazier stayed hot longer than I expected, so even by the time we were on rice refills, everything was still warm and delicious.

I almost ordered one gyukatsu plus one other dish, but went with the gyukatsu set for two instead — and I'd recommend doing the same. The portion isn't really meant to be split; it's just the right amount per person.

Being sirloin beef, it was so tender and delicious. It comes pre-cooked to medium rare, so it grills up quickly. It's amazing with the white rice, and you can keep refilling that rice. My boyfriend thoughtfully refilled it for me first. Hehe. The rice was firm and chewy in the best way too.
