Pyeongtaek Station revolving sushi, ₩2,100 draft beer: Mikado Sushi

In short

Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch is a revolving sushi restaurant a 7-minute walk from Exit 1 of Pyeongtaek Station in Gyeonggi. Draft beer is 400cc for 2,100 won and corkage is free, so the writer brought a bottle of Japanese sake, Zaku, to drink with sushi picked off the rail and ordered by QR code. Both the raw fish sushi and the sauce-topped sushi were good enough for a solo 17-plate return visit.

There are always so many good restaurants around Pyeongtaek Station whenever I go looking. Finding a new place is great, but revisiting a restaurant you already know and love is one of life's real joys, haha. The place I'm introducing today is basically the reigning champion of conveyor-belt sushi near Pyeongtaek Station — genuinely restaurant-quality sushi at a price that makes no sense, plus a clean, pleasant atmosphere. This is a place I'll keep coming back to, so let's get into my review of Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch!!

The rail had such a wide variety of delicious sushi circling around, haha. Watching this mesmerizing scene is honestly half the reason to visit a conveyor-belt sushi place. Seeing the sushi go round and round here is a real spectacle!

Draft beer at 2,100 won and free corkage at Mikado Sushi

Another one of Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch's ridiculous prices is the drink menu. Soju and beer are both ₩3,900, and draft beer is a jaw-dropping ₩2,100 for 400cc... there can't be much profit left in this, lol.

A 400cc glass of draft beer

So of course I had to order right away, lol. That ₩2,100 draft beer really is ₩2,100 and it tastes amazing too. Ice-cold, great carbonation, nutty flavor... I finished 2 glasses, haha. The pairing with sushi is incredible!

And another standout feature — this place's corkage is also free... What exactly are they making a profit on, sir? T_T My brother's bottle of high-end Japanese sake, Zaku, got opened. The sushi here was so good that the pairing with the sake was absolutely blissful.

What comes with the table setting, and ordering extras by QR code

Now let's really talk about the sushi. Extra sauce and rakkyo (pickled Japanese scallion) were already at the table, and wasabi and soy sauce were also stocked. A miso soup comes as part of the basic setup too.

Looking at it again, it's such a beautiful spread of sushi. This is the place that always comes to mind whenever I'm craving sushi.

There are truly so many kinds of sushi. The basic system is picking whatever you want off the rail, but if you want extra pieces or a type of sushi that isn't on the rail right now, you can order it via QR code! They make it fresh and bring it out piping hot, haha.

Why both the raw fish sushi and the sauce-topped sushi work here

Every single piece of sushi here is genuinely delicious. Usually, places where the raw fish sushi quality is lacking tend to lean hard on seasoned or grilled sushi to make up for it, while places with really good raw fish sushi tend to be weaker on the more variety-driven sushi types. Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch is one of those rare places where every type of sushi is delicious.

Plate of raw fish sushi

I personally judge a sushi restaurant's overall quality by its salmon sushi, and this was truly high-grade — good-condition raw material, proper aging, and just the right amount of fat, haha.

Grilled fish sushi: worth four pieces on its own

Then there's the sushi with sauce or seasoning on top — grilled fish sushi and sweet shrimp with egg sushi, and this type is out of this world. The softness and richness of the fish, and how perfectly it pairs with the sauce, is flawless... I highly, highly recommend the grilled fish sushi. I ate 4 pieces of it, lol.

The variety of sushi is genuinely wide. These pieces I ordered specially — minced tuna sushi, red seabream belly, grilled fish, scallop, and more. There's really nothing they don't have, haha.

Every single piece is really delicious. And while you're eating, another sushi catches your eye, you get curious what it tastes like, and you grab it too. It's impossible not to overeat at this place...!

Flounder fin and freshwater eel sushi, 2,100 won a plate

The flounder fin and freshwater eel sushi near the top of the rail are also highly recommended. These are ingredients you don't often come across for just ₩2,100 a plate, and the quality is excellent.

And the rotating rail at Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch isn't just sushi — there are also dessert dishes and fruit plates, so feel free to grab whatever suits your taste~!

17 plates alone: is Mikado Sushi worth a return visit?

Yes... that was all eaten by me alone. It's food and quality you simply can't help overeating. Looking back now, it was 17 plates... please assume each plate was one piece! Another delicious visit to Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch today — this is a restaurant I love and will keep coming back to :)
