Songpa jazz restaurant, 100,000 won dinner for two: Allegro

In short

Allegro is a third-floor Western restaurant near Songpanaru Station in Bangi-dong, Songpa, Seoul, where you eat dinner while a live jazz band plays. Arriving right at the 6pm opening with a younger sibling she hadn't seen in a year, the writer ordered focaccia and ciabatta, arugula and lemon salad, sous-vide pork neck steak and mushroom cream potato gnocchi, spending 100,000 won for two including the weekend show fee of 15,000 won per person. Between the window seats facing Lotte World Tower, the smooth jazz sets and the tender pork, Allegro is an easy pick for a date night in Jamsil.

I made plans with a dear friend I met at my old job — we've known each other for almost 8 to 9 years now — near Songpanaru and Songridan-gil, since it had been a while!

The older you get, the harder it is to actually spend time together even when you say 'let's meet more often'... It felt like I'd just seen her, but it had already been almost a year.

Trying to figure out where to eat something delicious for my precious friend, I decided on a newly opened restaurant that holds live jazz performances!

In the end — - the interior had a really good vibe, and you could see Jamsil Tower from here! - the food was tasty, and I got to enjoy a performance too, so it was perfect...! Let me introduce "Allegro"

Where is Allegro and how do you get there from Songpanaru Station?

Allegro is within a 5-minute walk of Exit 2 of Songpanaru Station, and within a 15-minute walk of Exit 10 of Jamsil Station. Being near Songridan-gil, there was a lot to see around the area too.

Once you get near the building the map guides you to, there's a building interior next to the 1st-floor parking lot, and taking the elevator up to the 3rd floor gets you to Allegro.

And apparently the lunch happy hour event runs on weekends too! (The food was so good that I'm planning to come back here next time I have a lunch appointment!)

Inside Allegro: a third-floor dining room facing the stage

Allegro's hall has a stage set up at the front, and the seating is arranged so you can focus on the performance. A clean black-and-white tone gives it a calm mood~

There's a stage set up at the front! It was my first time at a restaurant with jazz performances like this, so I was pretty excited for no reason!

With the lighting fixtures used so well, the place is full of good vibes — totally optimal for a Jamsil Songridan-gil date...♥

There's a clean restroom set up inside, so women who prefer places with a clean restroom can use it comfortably too!

What kind of performance will we get to see today! Better catch up on all our chatting before the show starts haha

Arriving at 6pm: when do Allegro's two jazz sets start?

Allegro's performance is split into a 1st set and a 2nd set. Since we did the dinner opening run at 6pm, we decided to eat and wait leisurely!

Allegro's menu featuring pasta and wine

Pasta and main dishes, red wine, white wine, sparkling wine, whiskey, drinks and more — the menu was really well put together for a Songpa Jamsil date.

What two people ordered at Allegro and what it cost

We ordered: - Focaccia & ciabatta - Arugula & lemon salad - Sous-vide pork neck steak - Mushroom cream potato gnocchi + 15,000 won per person for the weekend performance fee, 100,000 won total!

Catching up on how things were going, I heard my capable friend is preparing to change jobs. With a key person leaving the company, she decided there was no future there, and is now preparing to aim even higher — go my amazing friend!! Fighting!

How the sous-vide pork neck steak and mushroom cream gnocchi tasted

Right as our chatting was in full bloom, the food slowly started coming out. Pre-meal bread came first,

Pre-meal bread and the extra focaccia and ciabatta ordered

These are the extra bread we ordered! We got them thinking we could dip them in the gnocchi sauce or in case we ran out — good call!

Refreshing, crunchy arugula salad! Arugula with grated cheese, lemon, and olive oil — pretty solid, I might make this at home too!

Rich, thick potato gnocchi! So so good ㅠㅠ

A well-set table~ complete once the steak arrives!

Table complete with the sous-vide pork neck steak added

Super tender steak! Probably because of the sous-vide cooking, the inside was really soft and the outside had a crisp feel... genuinely good enough that I want to come back ㅠㅠ

Date-like atmosphere at Allegro viewed while eating

A date or blind date in this kind of atmosphere is a 100% success, right!?

What the live jazz performance at Allegro was like

Once we'd chatted for a while, the musicians for the day started coming out onto the stage one by one, and after tuning, the performance started close to on time. Time for the hall to fill up with smooth jazz music~

They also gave explanations about the music here and there, which made it even more enjoyable to listen to!! As someone who loves jazz, it was a really memorable day for me.

You can see Lotte World Tower through one side of the window here — we came in while it was still bright, early fall, and ended up enjoying it well into the late night~ Such a happy time!

Is Allegro worth it for a date near Songridan-gil?

There are so many great places to eat and hang out on Songridan-gil, but a place with live impromptu performances plus genuinely good food really is rare. Listening to great music while eating delicious food with a view of Lotte Tower in Jamsil — how could that not be a success for a Songpa Songridan-gil date or blind date? Also, if you love jazz, don't hesitate to visit!
