Pastry-topped pumpkin soup at a Gijang outlet restaurant: Bueokgan

I went on a Gijang Shinsegae Outlets outing after a long while. When you're wandering around shopping, at some point you get hungry and start looking for a restaurant, right? So I stopped by Bueokgan, a Western restaurant in Gijang known for good food.

This Western restaurant in Gijang is inside Shinsegae Outlets, so parking is convenient and it's perfect for a meal after shopping. The restrooms were also easy to use — right when you exit Bueokgan, there are separate men's and women's restrooms on the left and right.

Inside Bueokgan: dining room and waiting area

This Western restaurant in Gijang had an interior that felt upscale, like a European restaurant. It was such a calm, refined space that I naturally felt myself relax. Even the waiting area was decorated in a European style, so I could wait on a cozy sofa.

In one corner there were aprons, wet wipes, and napkins, so anyone who needs them can just grab and use them.

True to its reputation as a good Western restaurant in Gijang, there was a wide variety of dishes. Some menu items are sold in limited quantities, and the kiosk even shows how many are left. :)

Tasting pastry soup, basil pesto cream pasta and kung pao chicken pilaf

The basic setting comes with water, a small plate, fork, spoon, and knife. :)

What we ordered was ✔️pastry soup ✔️basil pesto cream pasta ✔️kung pao chicken pilaf. I love basil pasta, so whenever there's a basil dish I pick it without question. The basil pesto cream pasta was packed with basil aroma. Thick, rich cream sauce with a soft-boiled egg on top made it look even more velvety.

I popped the egg yolk and shook shook shook it in. The basil pesto cream pasta getting even creamier!

So thick and rich, it's no joke. The basil aroma was so strong too, seriously delicious. 🩷

Pastry soup with sweet pumpkin soup under the lid

✔️Pastry soup! I've had this pastry soup at Bueokgan before — the sweet pumpkin soup inside pairs so well with the plain, unsweetened outer pastry. I couldn't forget that taste, so I ordered it again! 😸

Dipping the warm pastry into the sweet pumpkin soup is so sweet and mellow, absolutely delicious!

Kung pao chicken pilaf topped with a whole chicken leg

✔️Kung pao chicken pilaf! This dish has a big chicken drumstick sitting right on top of a slightly spicy pilaf. The beautifully roasted chicken and the slightly spicy pilaf went together so well. Just a touch of spice plus sweetness — it was delicious.

My husband took the tongs and scissors and broke the chicken down into easy-to-eat pieces, which made it so much more convenient. :)

We cleaned our plates completely. :)

Is Bueokgan worth it? The food comes out slowly

This Western restaurant in Gijang is located inside Shinsegae Outlets, so it's great for lunch or dinner after shopping. As a European-style restaurant, the atmosphere itself is upscale and cozy, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal in a good setting.

The food itself takes a while to cook, so it comes out slowly, but if the cooking time runs long, a message asking you to wait a little longer pops up on the tablet at the table. :)

The cream pasta was so thick and rich with plenty of basil aroma, exactly to my taste, and the kung pao chicken pilaf, which I tried for the first time, had a great balance of tender chicken and slightly spicy pilaf. Since Shinsegae Outlets has free parking and a spacious lot, you can visit comfortably without worrying about parking. 😸
