Lately my hair had been feeling heavy overall, and my fringe kept sticking out in a way that was low-key stressing me out. Looking to change things up, I searched for a hair salon near Hansung University Station and ended up visiting Luri Hair Salon Hansung University Branch.

I originally went in just thinking about a fringe perm and a quick trim of the bangs, but after looking at my hair, the stylist suggested it might be nice to tidy up the whole thing, so I ended up getting a layered cut too. In the end my hair got so much lighter and my fringe was styled naturally — total mood reset, haha.

Luri Hair Salon Hansung University Branch is right outside Exit 1 of Hansung University Station.

The building has a big LULI HAIR SALON sign on the outside, so even as a first-time visitor I had no trouble finding it.

The salon uses both the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building, so I walked up the stairs, and there were some fun little details along the way.

Each step had a little note like -0.09kcal, -0.12kcal showing the calories burned climbing it. It's a small thing, but reading them one by one on the way up was kind of fun, haha. At the entrance there was also a big price list for cuts, dye, and perms, so I could check before going in.

What is the salon like inside?

Stepping inside Luri Hair Salon Hansung University Branch, the whole space was done in white and gray tones, which gave a clean first impression.

A brick accent wall paired nicely with an arched mirror, and the waiting area had a pink velvet sofa and green chairs — very photogenic. The whole salon was bright overall, so it never felt stuffy.

At the counter there were profile intros for the director, the head stylist, and the other stylists, plus a Naver Reservation QR code.

Starting the layered cut and fringe perm at Luri Hair Salon

This time my cut was done by stylist Seunghyun at Luri Hair Salon Hansung University Branch.

I'd originally gone in just thinking about a fringe perm and a simple trim, but after checking my hair's condition, she said it might be nice to tidy up the heavier parts and add some layers.

So I ended up getting the layered cut done as well, and honestly, the cut itself was my favorite part of this whole visit!

I'd been a little worried about the layered cut, since too many layers can sometimes look messy or be hard to style. But Seunghyun connected the layers naturally to match my hair length and thickness, and the overall silhouette turned out really pretty.

I especially loved how the layers fell in a natural line when viewed from the side. The ends moved lightly, and that heavy, stuffy feeling was cut way down. Watching her catch exactly the style I wanted while still shaping it to suit my hair, I could tell she's really skilled at layered cuts. With the fringe perm added on top, the front got natural volume while the layers connected throughout, finishing off in a much more stylish look :)

What happens while the fringe perm sets

For the fringe perm, she rolled my bangs onto perm rods and set them.

Looking in the mirror, it was such an unusual sight that I couldn't help taking a photo, haha. There was also some waiting time under the heat machine in the middle, and while I waited they brought me coffee and Biscoff cookies, so I got to snack and relax.

Going from cut to perm can take quite a while, but with drinks and snacks to enjoy, the time passed faster than I expected.

Before and after: how did the layered cut change the hair?

Looking at the finished style, the first thing that caught my eye was, of course, the fringe!

My fringe, which used to stick out limply, now had natural curl and volume, giving it a much more polished look.

Best of all, the fringe wasn't curled into a tight round shape — it fell naturally, so it never felt overdone. Combined with the layered cut, the overall change was pretty significant too. Before the cut, my hair fell like one heavy chunk, but after, the layers appeared naturally and the flow of the hair was much more visible from the side.

The layers weren't overdone, connecting naturally starting around the face, and the line fell beautifully when viewed from the side. It was exactly the kind of layered cut for women in their 20s that I'd been searching for, so I was really happy with it. Even at home, just slightly shaping the direction of the fringe while drying my hair was enough to keep the shape natural, which made styling easy.
