Bringing you a café review from a Sunday morning visit haha — Mudeungdowon (무등도원), a café near Seongshin Women's University.

I went in the relaxed weekend morning and the place exceeded my expectations — it really nailed its own vibe and sentiment :)

Inside Mudeungdowon: an interior full of LP records

Let's go in! It was nice that I didn't even have to open the door myself today lol.

As soon as I walked in, the decorations scattered around caught my eye. The LP records and music-related props matched perfectly with the music softly playing ☺️

The interior is calm-toned overall and full of atmosphere, so it was great for photos 📷 The owner was also very friendly, so I got to relax comfortably. One special thing — thanks to all the sentimental decor, I never got bored even sitting there a long time, my eyes stayed entertained! 😉

There was also a wide variety of desserts ready

Looks like they're made right there in-house in a baking room 👍 The owner also brought us water!

What we ordered at Mudeungdowon, and the LP-record coasters

At Mudeungdowon we ordered four things: americano, flat white, mugwort fig cake, and raspberry tart.

How do the americano and flat white taste?

I ordered the nutty americano, and the nutty, heavy body was impressive. If you like americano, you'll be satisfied with this one.

The flat white had an appealingly smooth finish going down — if you prefer something lighter and softer than a latte, I recommend it. The portion size was also just right for sharing two drinks between us.

Raspberry tart and mugwort fig cake at Mudeungdowon

The raspberry tart had a vivid sweet-and-tart flavor that lifted my mood the moment I took a bite. The tart crust was crispy too, so the texture was great.

The mugwort fig cake (쑥 무화과 케이크) had a subtle mugwort aroma coming from the cream. The figs were also fresh and sweet, blending nicely with the distinct mugwort scent 👍 Both the cake and the tart paired well with the americano and the flat white. You can order just one dessert, but if you and your companion prefer different drinks, I'd recommend getting both to share! ☺️

Why the morning window seats are best for photos

The LP records and music decor placed around the space naturally became photo zones. Since it was morning, the soft sunlight coming in made everything feel even more sentimental. Sitting by the window meant good light for photos and it was also nice for just sitting there spacing out. We actually sat there for a long while, looking at all the decor and taking photos ❤️

In cool early autumn like these days, sitting by the window and enjoying some leisure time is perfect. But honestly, I'd love to come back on a rainy day. Wouldn't that be so atmospheric? haha

There may be closed days, so I recommend checking the hours before you visit :)

Seongbuk Stream is nearby, so it's a great course to pair with a walking date. Spend leisurely time at the café, then walk along Seongbuk Stream — it feels really healing. It's also close to Seongshin Women's University, with lots to see around there, so I recommend bundling it into a course.

Mudeungdowon, visited on a Sunday morning — the atmosphere was great and everything on the menu was delicious, so I'd say 100% intent to return. Personally, I want to visit again on a rainy day.
