It's 862m from Hansung University Station, so it was easier to transfer to a bus from the station. Since it's only open from 11am to 3pm, it's a lunch-only operation. You can call ahead to reserve, so if you're coming as a group, it's worth asking about reservations.

Inside Seochon Nugak: window seats and the dining room

The interior was clean and had a cozy feel, making it comfortable for a relaxed meal. There's no dedicated parking lot, so if you're driving, it's best to use a nearby public lot.

The weather has been so nice lately, and we were seated by the window. The air conditioning was on low with the window open, so we got a pleasantly cool breeze during a comfortable lunch.

The menu is simply organized into rice sets, hot pots, and drinks. The signature dish at Seochon Nugak, the Nugak feast set, is only available with advance reservation for two or more people, so keep that in mind.

Korean pork rib kimchi stew, 15,000 won

The first dish we ordered was the Korean pork rib kimchi stew (kimchi jjim). It's a dish where tender pork spare ribs pair beautifully with well-fermented kimchi.

Mushroom rice with octopus and shrimp, 15,000 won

The second dish was octopus and shrimp mushroom rice, piled high with soft, chewy octopus and delicate, satisfying king trumpet mushrooms.

Jeju tot (seaweed) rice with abalone and scallops, 17,000 won

The last dish was abalone and scallop Jeju tot bap (rice with seaweed fusion), a healthy spread loaded with abalone, scallop, white pollock roe, and Jeju tot seaweed.

Generous, fresh ingredients but not over-seasoned, which explains why this place is a well-known lunch spot near Hansung University Station. The staff was friendly and the menu had a lot of dishes parents would enjoy, making it a good place for a family meal.

Different side dishes with every dish, and free refills

The side dishes (banchan) were slightly different depending on the main dish, seemingly matched to complement each main.

If you finish a side dish, just tell the staff and they'll refill it, so you can eat as much as you like. Each banchan tasted so homemade that we ended up cleaning every plate haha

The Korean pork rib kimchi stew I ordered had generous portions of soft, thick meat, making it easy to share with my parents. The kimchi was tangy and well-fermented — total rice thief. They also gave us an apron along with tongs and scissors, which made it easy to cut up and eat!

Seochon Nugak is a lunch-only restaurant serving clean, well-put-together Korean food at a reasonable price. With its simple hanjeongsik-style Nugak feast set, it would also make a great budget-friendly hanjeongsik option.
