Korean BBQ near Bomun Station, Seoul: Gimgol Yeontanjip teukmoksal
In short
Gimgol Yeontanjip Bomun Station Branch is a charcoal-grill Korean BBQ restaurant one block behind Seongbuk Stream, right in front of exit 7 of Bomun Station in Seongbuk, Seoul. The writer ordered juljuli teukmoksal (pork neck strips, 150g) for 15,900 won, seolhwa kkodeulsal and gochujang charcoal bulgogi, plus flat bibim noodles (cold spicy noodles) for 6,900 won, with all-you-can-take aged kimchi, spring onion kimchi and shredded scallions from the self-serve bar. Between the patented charcoal briquettes, the basil ssamjang and the plum slushie at the end, Gimgol Yeontanjip makes the reason for a repeat visit obvious.

If you want to try charcoal-grilled pork near Bomun Station, I highly recommend Gimgol Yeontanjip Bomun Station Branch. It's a charcoal-grilling specialist one block behind Seongbuk Stream, right next to Bomun Station, with a retro vibe that's great for enjoying Hanwoo... I mean Hanwoo-pork teukmoksal (premium pork), charcoal-grilled king salt pork belly, and gochujang charcoal bulgogi with a beer. The chewy flat bibim noodles and lettuce wraps you can only get here are absolute beer thieves...
It's right in front of Seongbuk Stream and close to Bomun Station exit 7, so access is great. There's even parking, so there's really no reason not to come — I've recommended it to everyone around me and this is my n-th repeat visit.

Inside Gimgol Yeontanjip: group tables, high chairs and Seongbuk Stream views

With group seating, high chairs, and baby dishware all available, this Bomun-dong restaurant is great for family dinners or neighborhood gatherings.

There's a restroom in the building and wifi too, making this Seongbuk Stream restaurant easy to enjoy comfortably.

The open view right in front of Bomun Central IPARK is really nice. I always felt there was nowhere good for family meals or a beer-and-grilled-meat night near Bomun Station, and this place is exactly it!

It's already been featured on a Korean TV show, and it's a popular spot to check out near Seongbuk Stream.

Usually you have to pay extra for refills of aged kimchi or green onion kimchi, but at Gimgol Yeontanjip Bomun Station Branch you can help yourself as much as you want at the self-serve bar without any guilt. Above all, the shredded green onions are ridiculously good, so make sure to grab plenty ♡

Since I'd made a reservation, they wrote my name on a reserved-table card. The name card itself was so funny that my friends and I burst out laughing and had to take a photo.

They're running a photo review dried filefish giveaway, and a KakaoTalk friend-add event with a prize of up to ₩50,000 in meal vouchers. The prizes are pretty solid, so make sure you grab them!
What we ordered: teukmoksal, seolhwa kkodeulsal and gochujang charcoal bulgogi
- Juljuli teukmoksal 150g: ₩15,900
- Seolhwa kkodeulsal 150g: ₩17,900
- Gochujang charcoal bulgogi 150g: ₩14,900
- Flat bibim noodles: ₩6,900
- Zero Coke: ₩2,900

The basic table setting comes with basil ssamjang (dipping sauce), perilla oil-salt dip, sweet potato salad, and pickled chili peppers. Aged kimchi and green onion kimchi to grill alongside the meat come out too, along with lettuce and chili for wraps.

At this charcoal pork belly favorite, the charcoal at your table stays hot and never seems to run out — it didn't die out once during our whole meal! Grilling meat over charcoal keeps the inside juicy and gives it that subtle smoky flavor, but you do worry about harmful substances... At this Seongbuk Stream restaurant, though, they use patented charcoal, so apparently you don't need to worry about that.

Grilling it slowly alongside the green onion kimchi and aged kimchi... The staff explained in detail how to grill each type of meat for the best flavor, which I really appreciated!

The shredded green onions don't come as a default side, but they're at the self-serve bar, so be sure to grab plenty and enjoy them with the meat.
Once the kimchi and meat were nicely browned, we really got started. Whenever the grill plate looked a bit scorched, the staff swapped it right out, so we could grill everything cleanly without burning it.

Just wrapping the meat with pickled chili or garlic in fresh lettuce is already delicious, but

I recommend dipping it in the basil ssamjang, something you can only get at this Bomun Station spot. The refreshing basil aroma cuts right through the richness of the meat's fat — it's a real specialty! It's also a flavor women in particular tend to love, so I highly recommend it for a Seongbuk Stream date-night dinner.

Grilling the kimchi in the meat's fat until golden brown and taking a bite just melts away the day's stress... The seolhwa kkodeulsal is exactly as its name suggests — a wonderfully chewy texture packed with juices. Highly recommend.

What do the flat bibim noodles taste like?
Honestly, this flat bibim noodle dish is good enough that you could say you came for the noodles, not the meat, and I'd understand! Chewy noodles topped with crisp vegetables and juicy meat, rolled up and eaten in one bite — the spicy-sour sauce blends together so well that the meat disappears in no time.
Clutching my stomach that felt about to burst, I still couldn't resist ordering more of the gochujang charcoal bulgogi to ease my regret at not having enough room. The gochujang sauce is just the right level of sweet-spicy, mixed and grilled right on the charcoal! With both plain and marinated meat options, this is a great pick for Seongbuk-gu group gatherings or a Bomun Station work dinner. With such a varied menu, it fits whether you're here for the main meal, round two, or round three.

The gochujang charcoal bulgogi, full of that charcoal aroma, is so tender that it naturally pairs with rice, but I found it went even better wrapped with perilla leaves! Soft, juicy, incredible...

Finishing with a plum slushie and a walk along Seongbuk Stream
Before heading out, you absolutely have to try the plum slushie, which helps with digestion. For your health! There are also hair ties for anyone with long hair, and toothpicks for after the meal — you can really feel how much the owner thinks about the customers. (F)

Take your slushie and stroll around lovely Bomun-dong or along Seongbuk Stream, and digestion is basically handled. Eating dinner here and then sitting by the stream to watch the sunset makes me so happy. Great quality food, a clean restaurant, and friendly staff — I really, really want to recommend this place. It's a restaurant I'd want to walk all the way from Sungshin Women's University Station to Bomun Station just to bring someone to! With such reasonable prices, it's also great for students from Sungshin Women's University and Korea University.
Seriously, highly recommend!
