Suwon tea house with a toddler: Peach Mongttang cake at Diaz Cake

I was looking for a nice-atmosphere dessert café in Ingye-dong, Suwon, and that's how I ended up at Diaz Cake Boutique. It's a newly opened cake and dessert tea house on the second floor of the same building as Café Diaz, famous as one of Suwon's landmark dessert cafés. It had a different vibe from Café Diaz — more refined and calm — which really stood out to me.

This time I visited with my 3-year-old, and it turned out so much better than I expected that I wanted to write it up.

Where is Diaz Cake Boutique? Second floor at the entrance of Nahyeoseok-geori

Diaz Cake Boutique sits right at the entrance of Nahyeoseok-geori in Ingye-dong, across from Dongsuwon CGV. It's also close to Hyowon Park, so it's a great spot to stop by for dessert after a walk. If Café Diaz feels like a big, glamorous large-format café, the cake boutique upstairs on the 2nd floor is smaller in scale but has a much calmer, more upscale feel!

The moment I walked in, the store display and tea wares caught my eye. The tea-related props in particular were displayed so beautifully that it reminded me a little of Fortnum & Mason, which I visited once on a trip to the UK.

With sunlight pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows and the elegant interior, I felt like I'd briefly stepped into a tea room somewhere on a trip abroad.

How do the Fruits Mongttang and Peach Mongttang cake slices taste?

What we ordered at Diaz Cake Boutique was the fruit-mongttang cake slice, the peach-mongttang cake slice, and an iced latte.

Diaz is already famous for its fresh cream cakes — they say they use 100% dairy Seoul Milk fresh cream, along with good ingredients like Madagascar vanilla bean and French President butter.

Above all, the visual of just how generously the fruit is piled on! The fruit-mongttang, true to its name, let you enjoy several fruits together with soft fresh cream, and the peach-mongttang was packed with sweet, juicy peach — anyone who loves fruit would be satisfied. The cream wasn't too heavy or overly sweet either, so it went well with coffee. And the one who ate the most that day was, of course, my 3-year-old. :)

She already loves fruit, and she happily ate even the fruit tucked between the cake layers. She'd take a bite and ask for more, clearly loving it — I was so glad we brought her along.

Is Diaz Cake Boutique okay with a 3-year-old?

We were able to spend a comfortable time at Diaz Cake Boutique even with our 3-year-old in tow. Honestly, since it's such an upscale-feeling tea house, I was a little worried whether it would be okay to bring a kid — but on the day we visited, it was fine. The place isn't huge, but instead of the busy feel of a large café, it had its own charm and a calm atmosphere good for quietly enjoying cake and tea.

Our daughter was happy munching on delicious cake, and my husband and I got to enjoy coffee and dessert in a beautiful space, which we hadn't done in a while — very satisfying. Even though it's a café we visited with a kid, what I liked most was that it wasn't just 'easy to bring a baby to' — it was somewhere the parents could genuinely enjoy the atmosphere too.

Afternoon tea sets and whole cakes at Diaz Cake Boutique

At Diaz Cake Boutique, besides cake, you can also enjoy hand-drip coffee, a variety of teas, and an afternoon tea set. The space suits the pretty tea wares and desserts so well that I'd love to come back next time for the afternoon tea set.
