I headed out to the Guwol-dong area in Incheon for sashimi one evening. We visited Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch, located between Incheon Terminal Station and Yesulhoegwan Station. Maybe because it was dinner time, the place was already pretty packed when we walked in. We ordered the seasonal assorted sashimi platter and alsalbap and ate our fill as a pair.

Evening atmosphere and the side dishes that come first

Maybe because it was dinner time, there were a lot of customers as soon as we walked in. We decided on sashimi that day, so we ordered the seasonal assorted sashimi platter for two.
After ordering the sashimi, the standard side dishes started coming out one by one.

Salad, seaweed soup, salted pollock roe, and baek-kimchi (white kimchi) all came out, so we had something to nibble on before the sashimi arrived!
What we ordered at Veteran General Fish Market and what it cost
Ordering was done through the kiosk at each table,

and we ordered the seasonal assorted sashimi for two at ₩38,000, and alsalbap at ₩9,500.
Alsalbap at 9,500 won: enough for two to share
The alsalbap arrived before the sashimi.

At first I thought it'd be about one serving, but the portion was bigger than expected. Even eating it alongside the sashimi as two people, we still got pretty full just from the alsalbap.

It was piled high with flying fish roe, seaweed flakes, radish sprouts, and pickled radish, and eating it in bites alongside the sashimi gave a nice change of texture — really tasty.
What's in the seasonal sashimi platter for two: salmon, flounder, rockfish, mullet, red seabream

The seasonal assorted sashimi came out neatly arranged by fish type on a stone platter. That day's sashimi lineup was salmon, flounder, rockfish, mullet, and red seabream.

With so many types, we tried them one by one — the white-flesh fish had a chewy texture, and the salmon was softer, so it was nice to alternate between them.

Switching between types instead of eating the same one over and over meant we never got tired of it.

Wrapping it in perilla leaf made it even tastier, haha.
Grilled saury comes free with any sashimi order

Ordering sashimi also got us a grilled saury, cooked to a nice golden brown!
Self-serve vegetable corner and grilling your own kimchi pancake

At a self-serve corner on one side, we could help ourselves to wrap vegetables like lettuce and perilla leaf, along with salad, corn, baek-kimchi, and ssamjang (dipping sauce).

And what surprised me a bit was that you could grill your own kimchijeon (kimchi pancake) yourself.

By that point we were already full from the sashimi and alsalbap, so unfortunately we couldn't try the kimchijeon. ㅜㅜ
Is the Guwol-dong sashimi platter for two worth it?

We ate really well at Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch, with the seasonal assorted sashimi and alsalbap. The sashimi came with several kinds — salmon, flounder, rockfish, mullet, and red seabream — all on one plate, so it was fun trying each one, and the alsalbap was packed with flying fish roe, seaweed flakes, radish sprouts, and pickled radish, so we got fuller than expected! Worth a visit if you're looking for a place to eat sashimi in Guwol-dong, Incheon.
