Birthday dinner at Jeonbokchon, a Guwol-dong Rodeo abalone restaurant

I was searching for good Guwol-dong restaurants and ended up at Jeonbokchon (전복촌) for my mom's birthday! Here's my honest review of the abalone course menu made with live Wando abalone, plus the vibe of the private rooms :)

It was my mom's birthday, so I was thinking about where to take her, and I landed on a proper abalone spread to help her recover her strength!

The abalone just kept coming out lol, my mom and I nearly burst hahaha... Jeonbokchon, my new favorite Guwol-dong restaurant... ahh I want to go back already,,,

Where is Jeonbokchon and where do you park?

Jeonbokchon is located near Guwol-dong Rodeo and the restaurant alley by Incheon City Hall, so it was easy to find.

The address is 1st floor, Yesul-ro 204beon-gil, Namdong-gu, Incheon, and there's an outdoor lot behind the building, so it's convenient if you're driving!!

Above all, this felt less like a spot for a casual meal and more like a place for hosting guests, meeting the in-laws, family gatherings, or birthday celebrations.

I visited this time for my mom's birthday, and since the food came out so generously, I thought it'd be great for taking your parents haha

How many people fit in a private room?

Once inside, the restaurant is split into a main hall and rooms!

Jeonbokchon has nice private rooms available. There's a private room for 4-8 people and a separate banquet room for 16-20 people.

So it looked useful for anything from quiet occasions like meeting the in-laws or hosting guests, to 80th birthday celebrations, parents' birthdays, and group gatherings!!

My mom and I ate comfortably in a room too, chatting away without worrying about people around us — super satisfying💗

Jeonbokchon menu and prices

True to its name, Jeonbokchon has a really wide variety of abalone dishes!

• Jangsu course 49,000 won
• Abalone course 39,000 won
• Bon course 29,000 won
• Evening special course 19,900 won

They have course menus, single dishes, and lunch specials, and with so many abalone-centered options, abalone lovers would have fun just picking a menu.

There were also plenty of add-on options.

• Abalone jang 8,000 won
• Pollock hoe muchim (raw pollock salad) 9,000 won
• Fried shrimp 15,000 won
• Extra abalone 8,000 won

Jeonbokchon reportedly uses live abalone shipped daily from Wando, so it seemed like a great fit for anyone who wants really fresh abalone.

The lunch-only menu is also great value, so if you work nearby, I recommend visiting for lunch!

What comes with the 39,000-won abalone course for two?

My mom and I visited together, so we ordered the abalone course menu at 39,000 won for two!

It's a menu that includes a variety of abalone dishes and single dishes, and way more food came out than the price alone suggested.

Abalone porridge, salad, sushi, sashimi, abalone hoe (raw abalone), steamed abalone, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), pollock hoe, fritters, nurungji-tang (scorched rice soup), beef bulgogi, seaweed soup, and codfish jerky fritters — it genuinely kept coming lol.

I don't usually eat codfish jerky, but even the codfish jerky fritters were tasty... haha

Steamed abalone dipped in abalone entrail sauce

And especially delicious was the steamed abalone... you dip it in an entrail sauce and it's out of this world.

It felt like the abalone just kept coming, so even while eating it with my mom I was like, wait, is this really only 40,000 won...?

The abalone is apparently shipped daily from Wando, and honestly all the abalone dishes were super fresh!! The kind of place where you won't get scolded for taking your parents.

At the end, seaweed soup and beef bulgogi came out as the meal finale, which was really filling.

Since it was my mom's birthday, I took her to help her recover her strength, and with so many dishes and a table full of food, it really felt like she was being treated well haha

Was it a good birthday meal for parents?

Jeonbokchon, the Guwol-dong restaurant I visited for my mom's birthday, is honestly a top recommendation for taking your parents!

Ordering just one abalone course menu brought out everything from abalone dishes to sashimi, fritters, bulgogi, and seaweed soup, making for a really generous meal.

Above all, I loved having a private room so my family could eat comfortably.

If you're in Guwol-dong looking for a good abalone restaurant, a spot for group gatherings, a parent's birthday meal, or a Korean restaurant to host guests, this place is worth checking out. I took my mom there for her birthday and was satisfied with both the generous food and the relaxed atmosphere haha
