I really do need to watch what I eat before the wedding, but today was an important appointment I could absolutely not treat casually. It was the last supper thrown for the coworker who'll be handling the mic as our wedding's main host (haha!).

Rangrang and I agonized over where to go, then headed straight for Curie's true go-to spot — the place we once devoured so happily we practically had our faces in the bowl. Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch is a shabu-shabu restaurant on the 2nd floor of Ruwon Tower Plaza in Seohae, Incheon. The moment we walked in, my coworker's eyes went wide. "Wait, this is a shabu-shabu place? It looks like a hotel buffet!" she said, showering praise.

One of Shabuway's biggest charms is exactly this upscale interior. The tables are spaced generously and the flow is comfortable, making it a really popular spot for Cheongna work dinners or family gatherings. You get a high-quality meal in a great atmosphere, so it's a perfect choice for a wedding-invitation get-together or any occasion where you're treating someone.

New at the Shabuway salad bar: perilla oil pasta and boneless fried chicken

The new item we discovered on the Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch salad bar this time was perilla oil pasta. We grabbed a table and set off on our salad bar exploration! It had been a while since our last visit, and the lineup had changed a bit.

Instead of the same dishes every time, the handmade menu rotates trendily on a schedule, so regulars like me never get bored and keep coming back — there's a weird magic to it, haha. Among the new items this time was 'perilla oil pasta,' which hit my taste exactly right. It was so savory and salty-good that I scooped up two plates before shabu-shabu even started.

And the crispy-outside-juicy-inside 'boneless fried chicken' that I devoured like crazy on my last visit was thankfully still there! It seems its popularity has cemented it as a steady bestseller. Fresh-fried chicken is always the truth no matter when you eat it. Most dishes here are made by hand one by one, easily surpassing typical buffet quality.

Shabu vegetable corner now with minari (water dropwort)

This visit, minari (water dropwort) had newly appeared in the vegetable corner at Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch. Fresh vegetables are, after all, the lifeblood of shabu-shabu!

From the salads to the shabu vegetables, everything was crisp and lively with nothing wilted. There wasn't minari on our last visit, I think, but this time there was plenty of it, its distinctive fragrance lifting the broth's flavor, so I piled my vegetable basket full. This is exactly the kind of vegetable condition that earns the title of a Gajeong Station restaurant worth its name!

US prime beef and half-and-half broth: unlimited refills for 3 adults

At Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch, US prime-grade beef chuck, beef brisket, and tender pork neck are all served all-you-can-eat. Once again, without fail, our choice was the half-and-half broth so we could enjoy two flavors at once!

Dip thin-sliced meat briefly into the rich boiling broth, then plunge it into a sauce mixed exactly to your taste... and the savory meat juices burst right open in your mouth, ㅠㅠ

We ate a ton even just the two of us before, but with three sturdy adults gathered, the pace of meat and broth refills was no joke, haha. Being able to keep bringing more without holding back was so reassuring! In front of delicious food, talk of the upcoming wedding ceremony script flowed easily, and the mood got warm and lively.

Dessert corner and the verdict: would we go back to Shabuway?

With our stomachs packed full of meat and vegetables, we cleanly wrapped up the feast by sweeping through the ice cream and coffee dessert corner too!
