I was craving proper beef today, so I searched for good beef restaurants in Cheongna and ended up at Suksung Myeongjak Cheongna, which is well known in Incheon. It's not just a grill-your-own-meat kind of place — you can pair aged hanwoo with uni and truffle tartare, which is a little special, so the menu caught my eye right away.👀 This time I'll walk you through everything I tried, from the aged hanwoo tenderloin to the side dishes :)

An Incheon beef restaurant in Cheongna specializing in aged hanwoo

According to the restaurant's official introduction, it has been selected as a Blue Ribbon restaurant for seven consecutive years, 2020–2026, and is designated an excellent hanwoo retailer by the Hanwoo Promotion Fund. It also describes itself as aiming to be a Korean restaurant where you can comfortably enjoy top-grade aged hanwoo.

That's exactly why I visited — I wanted to properly try aged hanwoo. The signature menu includes aged hanwoo tenderloin and striploin, fresh truffle & hanwoo tartare, beef tongue, and uni.

What we ordered at Suksung Myeongjak Cheongna

Aged hanwoo prime tenderloin 150g, 58,000 won, grilled for you

My main order was the aged hanwoo tenderloin 150g, ₩58,000. Suksung Myeongjak says its tenderloin is selected and wet-aged for over 15 days at a steady temperature below 1°C.

And the best part — no need to fuss over grilling it yourself, since they offer grilling service! They grilled it to just the right doneness, so I could just sit back and eat. Being hanwoo, the tenderloin was really tender with absolutely no gamey smell!! The clean flavor and soft texture typical of tenderloin really came through, and I was glad I picked it as my main :)

Sea urchin uni 100g, 49,000 won, piled onto the hanwoo

Next up: sea urchin uni 100g, ₩49,000. Uni is a one-per-day limited menu item, so the official guidance recommends reserving ahead.

Even on its own, the uni had that rich, slightly sweet flavor it's known for. But putting it on top of the aged hanwoo made for a combination that was clearly different from beef I usually eat. The richness of the uni layered behind the meaty flavor made it well worth trying at least once.

Fresh truffle & hanwoo tartare, 45,000 won

Couldn't skip the tartare either haha👀 The fresh truffle & hanwoo tartare is ₩45,000, and it comes with hanwoo seasoned with truffle oil and Himalayan rock salt, topped with Grana Padano and fresh truffle.

At first I was curious how truffle and tartare would work together, but the two paired surprisingly well — better than I expected. Adding truffle aroma to the tartare's flavor gave it a completely different feel from the tartare I usually eat.

Perilla oil goldongmyeon (buckwheat noodles), 13,000 won: deeply nutty

After eating a good amount of meat, I ordered some noodle dishes too. First was the perilla oil gyeoldongmyeon, ₩13,000 — buckwheat noodles tossed with various toppings, special soy sauce, and perilla oil.

The nuttiness of the perilla oil combined with the sesame gave it a flavor that's, well, straight-up nutty haha. A great way to finish off after the meat.

Spicy hanwoo hangover noodles, 12,000 won, with a mala kick

Next was the spicy hanwoo hangover noodles, ₩12,000. I ordered it in mala flavor. It's a corn noodle dish with hanwoo shank, mushrooms, and vegetables. The portion was generous, and it was spicy yet refreshing — perfect for when you want something a bit sharp and hot after eating a lot of meat.

Even the complimentary doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) was good

The doenjang jjigae that came as a basic side stuck with me too. It had that home-style savory flavor with plenty of vegetables, and it was nice to spoon up in between bites of meat.

Which ade to get: hibiscus was my favorite

For drinks, I ordered hibiscus ade and grapefruit ade. Between the two, hibiscus ade was more my taste haha. Sipping it in between bites of meat felt refreshing on the palate, so it was a good thing to order alongside the meal.

Book ahead if you're celebrating an anniversary

Suksung Myeongjak Cheongna also offers free lettering service for birthday or anniversary visits. Just note that it's only available for reserved guests who notify the restaurant in advance — same-day requests aren't possible.

Wine corkage is also free for up to one bottle per table, which seems handy to use for an anniversary or a special dinner.

Suksung Myeongjak Cheongna: the verdict

From the tender aged hanwoo tenderloin to the uni and truffle tartare twists, this felt like a Cheongna restaurant I'd think of when I want to enjoy beef a little more specially than usual :) I especially liked the grilling service — being able to eat comfortably without worrying about the doneness myself was a real plus.
