I had errands near Gajeong Station and heard there was a black pork spot grilling meat over charcoal briquettes, so I went straight there out of curiosity! It used to be a famous restaurant near Paju Premium Outlets, and apparently it recently relocated to Gajeong-dong.
What got me most excited was that the owner grills the meat himself and barely uses any store-bought products — he makes the side dishes and accompaniments from scratch. After eating there, I was really satisfied, so let me introduce it‼️
Where is Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul Gajeong Ruwon City Main Branch, and where do you park?
Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul Gajeong Ruwon City Main Branch is at 15 Yeomgok-ro 464beon-gil, 1F 101/102/103, Seo-gu, Incheon. Hours are Tue–Fri 16:30–24:00 and Sat–Mon 12:00–24:00, last order at 23:00, and it's closed Sep 24–25 for Chuseok.

You can park at the 3M Tower basement lot, and parking is free for 3 hours with a meal, which made driving there really convenient.
After getting off the elevator, turn right and you'll find the restaurant easily. Near the entrance there's a space where you can see the meat being low-temperature aged from outside. They said they age Jirisan black pork at low temperature for a full 7 days, then cut it thick and grill it over charcoal briquettes.
Inside Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul: tables and private rooms

The interior is set up neatly, mostly with 2–4 person tables, and there are also private rooms. They can seat anywhere from 2 up to 28 people, so it'd be great for work dinners, family gatherings, or group get-togethers. The rooms are more comfortable if you reserve ahead. I visited in the evening and it was pretty crowded!

Extra side dishes can be grabbed easily from a self-serve bar, and they also had disposable aprons ready, which was nice.
What is on the menu at Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul?

You could order easily via tablet, and there was a wide variety on the menu — 7-day-aged black pork neck and belly, jowl, and skin. There were also tons of meal options: gochujang jjigae, doenjang sulbap (soy-bean-paste rice), handmade mul-naengmyeon and bibim-naengmyeon (cold noodles), and ramyeon.

You could also connect to Wi-Fi instantly by scanning a QR code. They're also running an event where adding their KakaoTalk channel gets you a free drink! If you visit, don't miss it :)
What we ordered: black pork ogyeopsal, pork skin and more
- 7-day-aged black pork samgyeopsal (belly) 200g x2 servings
- Fresh black pork skin 150g
- Doenjang sulbap
- Handmade mul-naengmyeon
- Cola

The table setting came out so fast right after ordering that I was shocked,,👍 The staff were all friendly and attentive too :) The basic side dishes included salad, kimchi, myeong-i namul (wild garlic leaves), lettuce for wraps, and cabbage, plus something wrapped in foil with melजeot — that's mushrooms‼️

Plump steamed egg and muksabal (acorn jelly soup) were also served as standard, and the seasoning was subtle rather than heavy, which suited my taste perfectly.
Jirisan black pork ogyeopsal grilled over charcoal briquettes

The owner started grilling the meat himself over the charcoal! I sneaked a peek out of curiosity, and the moment the meat hit the charcoal, the aroma was seriously insane 👏👏 Usually when you think of black pork you think of Jeju Island, but this place uses Jirisan black pork.

He showed us the pork neck, saying it's their signature, and the thickness was so massive my eyes went wide..🫢

The owner explained the state of the meat and trimmed it into bite-sized pieces for us, so all we had to do was eat — so convenient. Can you see the juices locked in~~? The charcoal aroma really soaked into the meat, and it genuinely tasted like grilling over charcoal at a campsite 👍👍

I dipped the first bite in sun-dried salt that had been drained for over 5 years, and wow.. incredibly delicious 🫶 I've eaten a lot of meat, but samgyeopsal with that charcoal aroma had a distinctly different flavor.

I also tried it dipped in meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) made from large anchovies from Yeonggwang, Jeolla-do — it wasn't just strongly salty, it had that deep, rich, high-quality anchovy aroma.

The ssamjang (dipping sauce) made from house doenjang aged over 4 years also tasted totally different from typical ssamjang — great eaten with crunchy peppers!

I wrapped it in myeong-i namul, which I love, then topped it with lettuce and cabbage — yum~ Meat really tastes best wrapped in leaves haha

I also grilled the mushrooms from the foil packet a little more, then tore into them!!
Handmade mul-naengmyeon, fresh pork skin and doenjang sulbap
Now for dessert time! The handmade mul-naengmyeon exceeded expectations too. The noodle broth also isn't store-bought — they said it's made by simmering Korean beef bones and miscellaneous bones for a long time, and it wasn't overpowering, with a deep bone-broth aroma. My partner tried it too and raved about how good it was haha. The chewy noodles came in a generous portion, making it the perfect finish after all that meat.

The pork skin can't be skipped either! Being fresh black pork skin, it was clearly different from the cheap skin you usually get. It didn't harden over time — it stayed soft and chewy with a great texture!
I dipped it in the soybean powder that came alongside, and also piled it on top of the naengmyeon (lol). Successfully refueled my pork energy~🐽

Still felt a tiny bit unsatisfied, so I thoroughly finished off the doenjang sulbap too,,👏
Is Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul worth a visit? Final verdict
This is a place where the meat is great, but the meal dishes made in-house too meant every single thing was satisfying. From the owner to the staff, everyone was really kind, and there's real fun in eating thick Jirisan black pork grilled over charcoal briquettes — I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good BBQ restaurant in Ruwon City, Incheon. With rooms available, it'd also be great for a work dinner, family gathering, date, or evening meal out :)
