What happens in the consulting room at Anew Hair

This is head stylist Soyoon, who took care of my hair. She led me to a separate consulting room and gave me a proper hair consultation.

She checked my hair history and the style I wanted, and I could even choose the mood I wanted for the result. She brought out three different color chip books and went through them with me in depth.

My personal color comes out as summer light tone and winter pale tone, so I'd been struggling with that. Looking at my skin tone and overall impression, Soyoon said that since pale suited me, deep tones would probably suit me too, but if we put a deep color over my current hair, it might absorb unevenly, hitting the already-faded parts much harder.

She recommended an olive brown that could evenly tone down my three-toned hair while still looking soft, especially neutralizing the yellow. It was such a thorough, professional consultation that I felt fully confident in the color choice by the end.

Before: waist-length hair faded into three tones in two months

Yes, this is the problem hair. Would you believe this was dyed just two months ago? I asked for a color recommendation to welcome fall, and we went with a 7-8 level tone-down dye to tame the strong yellow, orange, and red tones overall.

How the olive brown full dye was done, step by step

They served snacks, put ear caps on, a hairline protection cap on my forehead, and sprayed a protective treatment on my hair. Small but thoughtful touches like these are always appreciated.

Afterward I went to the shampoo room where they washed my hair themselves. Right next to it was a head spa room too — I really wanted a head spa as well haha. While drying my hair, they gave me a face shield to hold up, which was new to me and kind of fascinating. It kept water off my makeup and blocked the dryer's heat, so it felt less hot — really nice.

While drying, they told me my hair doesn't hold dye well (fades easily), is thin, curls well with an iron, but dries slowly. They said drying it myself must be a pain...

And here it is... the big reveal. Isn't it genuinely so pretty? My previous hair had three different tones, and I'd only gone with a fairly light tone-down level (normally you'd need around a 5 to fully fix it, but I hate super dark colors so I raised it by 2 levels), so it was honestly a really difficult dye job — I was so happy with how the color turned out.

They must use premium products too, because my hair actually feels healthier after the dye. I always check what products places use, and this was exactly the kind of formula I prefer.
