Gunja Station bar with mozzarella-topped boneless rib grill

In short

Saechamjip is a Korean bar in Gwangjin, Seoul, on the second floor of the food alley by Gunja Station Exit 6. Still hungry after naengsam (chilled pork belly), the writer and her boyfriend ordered the boneless aged-kimchi stone plate rib grill (29,900 won) with a 3,000 won mozzarella cheese blanket, plus beef yukjeon (pan-fried beef, 18,900 won). With partitioned tables, room-style seats and a parking lot right in front, Saechamjip is an easy place for a quiet dinner and a long conversation.

Table spread of stone plate bone grill at Saechamjip near Gunja Station

My boyfriend and I had naengsam (chilled sliced pork belly) in Gunja but he said he was still hungry, haha. While looking for somewhere else to go, we went up to the 2nd floor of the building right next door to a place called Saechamjip (새참집).

I heard they serve stone plate bone grill here, so I figured it would fill my boyfriend's stomach right up lolololol.

How to find Saechamjip by Gunja Station, and where to park

Saechamjip is in the main food alley you reach by coming out Gunja Station Exit 6 and heading straight into the Gong Cha alley. Keep walking and you'll see the [Saechamjip] sign on the 2nd floor!!!

📌 Parking: there's a parking lot right in front of the building!! Just park there haha. This alley is genuinely hard to park in, so a bar with its own lot is precious~

Partitioned tables and room seats: can you actually talk here?

Every table at Saechamjip has its own partition so you can enjoy it totally privately, and there are even spots set up like full-on rooms!!

It was packed haha. I've been around this alley a lot, but next time I meet up with friends around here, this could be the spot!!

There are also room-style spots like this. This would be amazing for a date~~

Lately I really don't want to go to places that are so loud and crowded you can't even hear each other talk. We don't go on dates to party hard — we go to talk and make memories together~

We ordered the boneless stone plate bone grill and beef yukjeon!!

Free starters at Saechamjip: muksabal and heotgae sticks

The complimentary side dishes were mukbap (acorn jelly salad) and crackers! Those were like Nana Corn or V Corn or something, anyway that kind of thing haha.

Those crackers seriously kept disappearing lolol, why are they so tasty~~

Ooh and then they gave us water and heotgae (raisin tree) sticks!! Wow, giving out heotgae sticks — the service here is insane.

Even the water wasn't just plain water haha, it had a nutty flavor~ True to being a Korean bar, the interior has that Korean feel too!! Great atmosphere😎

Boneless rib grill with the 3,000 won mozzarella cheese blanket

First came the beef yukjeon haha, whoa it's huge!! It's pan-fried with meat and egg, and there's scallion salad in the middle — wow, giving us this scallion salad was such a nice touch haha.

Then the stone plate bone grill came out!! We paid the extra ₩3,000 for the mozzarella cheese blanket too haha.

Loads of scallions here too!! The scallions really cut the richness so well haha. It's soy-sauce based and you can adjust the spice level~

Wow the portion is insane... lolol, more than enough to fill up my chubby self!!

It comes with baek-kimchi (white kimchi), a mayo-ish sauce, and soy sauce for the yukjeon too~~ haha it tasted just as good as it looked.

Wow the portion is huge and just look at this cheese stretching~ haha the cheese topping is highly recommended~~👍🏻👍🏻

Stretchy cheese pulled from the bone grill

Order it a bit spicy and eat it with the cheese blanket together, I think that'd be delicious haha.

Since it's boneless, it's so easy to eat again. Meat and scallions together in one bite!!

There's scallion, bean sprouts, cheese and meat all in there, so it was a dish you could just keep picking at forever!!haha

Beef yukjeon: one full platter of pan-fried beef

The beef yukjeon was also cut into easy pieces, one bite with scallion salad~~ Not greasy at all and so delicious 🥰🥰

Beef yukjeon served as one large platter

What we usually think of as yukjeon comes as small individual pieces, but here it's served as one big platter haha. Got an early taste of the yukjeon I'll be eating at Chuseok lolol.

The bone grill is great with cheese in one bite too haha. It was so good I want to try the nakgopsae jeongol next time I come.

Bone grill eaten together with cheese

Ah, suddenly hungry again... opened up a bag of crackers lolol. Originally we were going to go home after the naengsam, but ended up at Saechamjip on a whim. Totally, completely satisfied!!

Wrapping the bone grill in baek-kimchi and dipping it in mayo like this~~ haha

There was such a variety to eat that we never got bored of it. Even though I was already full from naengsam, I genuinely ate a lot lolol (when am I ever going to diet ㅠ)

Fully spread table at Saechamjip

Ate our fill and went home to a great, deep sleep~~ If you want to eat privately and fill up in Gunja, Gunja Station bar, Gunja Station room bar, Gunja Station Korean pub [Saechamjip] — totally recommend it!!👍🏻👍🏻😎😎🤩💗
