I had errands at Suwon Station yesterday and ended up having dinner at the food court on basement 1 of AK Plaza Suwon Station. After some deliberating, I went solo to Jojo, a yakisoba and okonomiyaki restaurant.
Where is Jojo AK Plaza Suwon, and what are the seats like?

Jojo is right next to the Starbucks that's on your right as soon as you enter the basement 1 entrance of AK Plaza, coming straight up from Suwon Station subway station. Super easy to find.

The bar-style seating in the store is plenty, but the separated dining space right next to it is spacious too.
Jojo menu prices: why the set beats ordering à la carte

The menu board at the ordering counter. The main dishes are yakisoba and okonomiyaki. You can order à la carte or as a set, and the set menu is clearly the better value.

Off to the side there seemed to be some newly added items — shio fried rice and yaki fried rice. Looked delicious~~

The buzzer I got after ordering. The food came out not long after.
What comes in the 18,000 won yakisoba set?
Jojo's yakisoba set is ₩18,000.

The yakisoba set arrived.

The yakisoba set comes with basic yakisoba and mentaiko (salted pollock roe) gyoza.

The basic yakisoba. The portion is just right for one person. For someone like me who doesn't eat a huge amount, finishing the dumplings too looked like a lot — and it really was.

The ingredients packed in include cabbage, pickled ginger, green onion, squid, pork, and more.
They mix the noodles and ingredients together, and even through the video you can feel the heat coming off it haha. Food is always best eaten right after it's made!

Basic yakisoba: pickled ginger is the kick
The noodles are plump like udon and chewy. The seasoning wasn't too sweet, which I liked, and the squid and meat gave it good texture. And personally, I love pickled ginger. I'm the type of person who, at a gyudon (beef bowl) place, eats about half meat and half pickled ginger. Going by that kind of palate, the pickled ginger here was the real kick. It cuts right through what could otherwise be a rich, heavy dish. Some pickled ginger has a sweet edge, but this one doesn't. If you're not great with the spicy kick of ginger, you could just set it aside before mixing the noodles. I absolutely love pickled ginger, so I ate this with total satisfaction. Ginger is essential with Japanese food!!!

Mentaiko gyoza with tobiko sauce
Mentaiko gyoza — five dumplings came out, packed full of mentaiko.

A sauce loaded with tobiko (flying fish roe) comes alongside.

The dumplings look crispy just from the visuals! How did they get that color on them?? Seriously such a good sear. I think this might be the best-seared gyoza I've seen in a while.

You just dip the gyoza generously into the tobiko sauce. There's plenty of sauce. The gyoza were crisp outside, juicy inside, and paired really well with that sauce. Mayo-based sauce with tobiko is honestly already a proven-good combo — it would be more surprising if it wasn't tasty haha. That sauce is the kind everyone likes, no debate~
Funny thing is, I'd already had dumplings at lunch too; but these felt like a completely different league, so the dumplings kept going down easily at dinner too.
Is Jojo a good solo dining spot near Suwon Station?

Maybe because it's such a high-foot-traffic area, there were an unusually large number of solo diners. If you're looking for a place to eat alone near Suwon Station, this one's really good. The tables in the store are basically built for solo dining lol, there's a water dispenser right next to it too haha, and the location is close to the entrance too.
If you're a light eater, à la carte would probably be fine, and if you eat a lot, the set menu gives you great value, so why not! haha. Had a great yakisoba set at Jojo, a Japanese teppan restaurant near Suwon Station.
