Indian curry and naan set in Seodaemun, Seoul: Meno Kamena

While looking for a good Indian curry restaurant in Sinchon, I visited Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch, on the second floor of a side street off Yonsei-ro. We ordered the B Set for two, plus tomato soup. Once the green salad, chicken tikka, chosen curry, naan, rice, and lassi were all on the table, it filled up fast. The set did make choosing from the menu easier.

How to find Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch from Sinchon Station

Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch is about 443 m from Exit 2 of Sinchon Station, on the second floor of a building in the Yonsei-ro 11-gil alley. Large food photos are posted by the ground-floor entrance, so it was not difficult to find as long as I did not walk past it.

Hours are 11:00–22:30 daily, and reservations, group visits, Wi-Fi, and takeout are available. Naver Place lists parking as available. There is a notice that one hour is supported when using the Changcheon Church parking lot, but it would be best to confirm the conditions with the restaurant before visiting. I checked the hours and convenience information on Naver Place on September 12.

A long, Indian-style dining room

Once you open the door, the restaurant stretches far into the back. Two- and four-person tables line both sides, with enough room in the central aisle for people to pass through. The brick-like floor, dark walls, and red ceiling all appear at once, so it felt like stepping into a different atmosphere after being out in Sinchon.

This was not a restaurant with only a few tables, and I could see seating farther inside for larger groups. Indian-style framed pictures and decorations hang on every wall, so the background comes through quite clearly in photos no matter where you sit.

The B Set for two when the menu is long

The curry menu alone is divided into chicken, lamb, seafood, and vegetable varieties, with plenty of pages for naan, fried rice, and tandoori dishes too. The B Set we ordered costs ₩16,000 per person and is available from two orders. It includes green salad, chicken tikka, one curry, naan, rice, and lassi. The menu said you can choose palak paneer, butter chicken, or chicken masala for the curry, and adjust the spice level too.

Starting with tomato soup and green salad

Both the tomato soup in its small cup and the green salad were tastier than expected. The salad came on a wide plate of vegetables with an orange-colored dressing. It was a nice, light amount to have before the mains arrived.

Boneless chicken tikka

The chicken tikka in the B Set is boneless tandoori chicken. The red-seasoned chicken arrived cut into bite-size pieces, so there were no bones to pick around and it was easy to grab one at a time even before the curry and naan came out.

Curry with both rice and naan

The curry arrived topped with a round swirl of white cream, while the rice came on a separate plate. The garlic naan in the photo was so large that it folded over the edge of the basket. At first, I tore off naan and dipped it into the curry, then ate the remaining curry with rice. If you are ordering Indian curry near Sinchon Station for the first time, a set that lets you try both rice and naan makes choosing easier.

Lassi and honey naan too

Two glasses of lassi came together, and the honey naan had a thin, glossy coating of honey over its surface. I was curious about flavors beyond the naan for curry, so I made sure to take photos of the garlic naan and honey naan too.

For two people, the set menu seems like an easy way to choose. If you are curious about more naan varieties, you can add garlic naan or honey naan. There are so many menu items that, on a first visit, starting with the basics in the B Set~ It is an easy place to remember among Sinchon restaurants when you want to eat curry and several kinds of naan all at once. Since the restaurant is on the second floor, look for the entrance in the exterior photo and head up!
