In short
Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch is a beef grill restaurant on Chimsannam-ro in Buk-gu, Daegu, set in a two-story building with its own parking lot, a kids' playroom and a self-serve drinks corner. Parking, waiting area and interior at Gogi 9dan
Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch has parking on the first floor and the restaurant on the second. The white sign catches your eye even from a distance.
The parking lot is spacious and there's an attendant, so you don't need to worry about parking at all^^ These days, parking is the first thing I worry about when going out to eat, so I was very satisfied with the lot alone.

There's a comfortable sofa at the entrance for waiting, and turnover seemed fast, so a short wait shouldn't stand between you and a delicious meal^^
The interior was so luxurious and sophisticated it felt like walking into an art gallery^^

There's a well-equipped kids' playroom, which seemed great for parents to have a relaxed meal^^
At the entrance, plum tea, other drinks, and coffee were all neatly laid out — it felt like they were looking after guests down to the very last detail^^
Gogi 9dan menu and lunch specials

There's also shabu kalguksu (noodle soup) as a lunch special — the lunch specials seemed like even better value^^
You order through a kiosk.
What we ordered: the 9-course set with half platters of flower short rib and skirt steak
I ordered the ultimate-value 9-course set, half a portion of flower short rib, and half a portion of skirt steak.
The vividly colored flower short rib and skirt steak came out on a wooden cutting board, 500 grams total — plenty for two people to share.
The side dishes that come with the meal
The banchan (side dishes) were seriously impressive, right??

The neat, elegant side dishes were beautifully arranged on white porcelain, like something from a fine Korean set-course restaurant. Steaming japchae tossed with mustard leaf, seasoned crab, pickled broccoli, salad, seasoned seaweed, and radish water kimchi — each one was so delicious, more like sides from a fine hanjeongsik place than a barbecue restaurant^^
How the chef plates the beef platter at the table
This is the meat set that a professional chef plates in person, put together with real care.
You can actually order half a portion of flower short rib and half a portion of skirt steak separately^^ It was nice to be able to try each cut's distinct flavor.

The charcoal-grilled hanwoo flower short rib had just the right amount of fat running through the marbling, so it was wonderfully tender to chew^^
The skirt steak also had beautiful marbling — grilled lightly and dipped in salt, it added a savory richness that melted in the mouth^^ With a little wasabi on top, the sharp kick played off the savory juices and fat in a strangely perfect way^^
Inside the 18,000-won 9-course set and its pork kimchi jjigae
The 9-course set is this restaurant's signature menu^^ True to its reputation for great value, it comes with fresh hanwoo yukhoe (raw beef), fresh-wasabi sushi, sweet-and-spicy jjolmyeon noodles, and a pork kimchi jjigae loaded with meat — all top notch.^^ All of this for ₩18,000 is honestly hard to believe.

The pork kimchi jjigae in particular was so good^^ It had that deep, rich broth you'd get at a specialty stew restaurant, loaded with good pork — the kind of kimchi jjigae that keeps you reaching for another spoonful even when you're full, a true favorite among Koreans^^ I completely fell for its spicy, addictive flavor♡
Free dessert and drinks corner after the meal

The americano and drinks corner was so well stocked that you wouldn't even need to go to a café separately afterward^ I finished off with a light cup of plum tea to cleanse my palate^^
Is Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch worth a visit?
Being able to eat this much good-quality, fresh beef, in such a classy space, with a chef plating it right in front of you — I highly recommend Gogi 9dan in Chimsan-dong for a family meal or a date on a special occasion^^ Next time I'd love to bring my parents here♡
