Haeundae kiosk-order restaurant with wood-tone window seats: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is a European restaurant on the second floor of a building on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan, in front of Hillstate Weve. Of the three seating concepts, we took a wood-tone window seat and used the kiosk to order the couple's dish set — pumpkin soup, garden salad, shrimp rosé pasta, basil margherita pizza, orange juice and lemonade — dipping the chewy pizza dough into the soup and rosé sauce until nothing was left. With mild, unfussy Western food, a spacious hall and its own car park, Bueokgan Haeundae suits both dates and family meals.

Today I visited a brunch spot in Haeundae, "Bueokgan Haeundae Branch." Bueokgan started in Dongmyeong-dong, Gwangju, and has earned a lot of love for its stylish European sensibility and carefully made Western dishes. Since it's a well-known Haeundae, Busan restaurant, I went in with high expectations.

Where is Bueokgan Haeundae Branch, and where do you park?

A spacious hall split into three seating concepts

Inside the building, there's a Chinese restaurant also run by Bueokgan. Take the elevator up to the 2nd floor and you'll find the Bueokgan European restaurant.

Walking in, I was greeted by a gorgeous yet clean interior with a really spacious layout unfolding before me.

Right as you open the door, there's a clean white-tone space! Connected to the kitchen is a sleek, deep green-toned space! They made good use of vintage furniture and various props like the kind you'd see displayed in a hotel.

There's also a cozy wood-tone space with views through large windows — three concepts in total. It was great being able to choose seating to match your mood. We picked the wood-tone space, and the scenery through the big windows gave it a really nice feel.

Wood-tone seating with large windows and the half-moon table

At Bueokgan's signature "half-moon table," the open feeling of the view through the window was really lovely. As a European restaurant with great atmosphere on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, you can enjoy pasta, pizza, steak and more, and thanks to the variety of the menu, the mood suited everything from dates to meals with parents to family gatherings and outings.

What comes in the couple's dish set ordered by kiosk?

The menu at Bueokgan Haeundae Branch had a wide range of soups, pizzas, pastas, steaks and more, both à la carte and as sets. We ordered the Couple's Dish Set via kiosk — pumpkin soup, garden salad, shrimp rosé pasta, basil margherita pizza, orange juice and lemonade. The set menu was slightly discounted compared to ordering items individually.

Table set with side plates and cutlery

The table was neatly set with side plates, cutlery, water glasses and wet wipes.

The drinks came out first. The orange juice had a nice balance of sweetness and its distinctive tartness, and the lemonade was loaded with tangy lemon syrup, sweet-and-sour and refreshing.

Pumpkin soup and garden salad at Bueokgan Haeundae

The pumpkin soup was really an excellent choice. I don't usually go for pumpkin, but the smooth, creamy texture and just-right sweetness of the pumpkin kept me coming back for more spoonfuls.

The garden salad came out with dressing and plenty of cheese piled on top of cherry tomatoes and fresh vegetables. The sweet-and-tangy dressing really perked up the appetite.

The shrimp rosé pasta and basil margherita pizza came out right after.

Shrimp rosé pasta!

The thick, smooth rosé sauce had shrimp mixed in with a good springy texture. The subtle tang of tomato blended with the richness of the cream, so it was delicious without being heavy. The sauce clung nicely and moistly to the noodles, and eaten together with the shrimp, the thick sauce combined with tomato and cream nicely — a dish that anyone who loves shrimp would be satisfied with.

Basil margherita pizza topped with arugula

Basil margherita pizza and its chewy dough

Basil margherita pizza! On a basil pesto base sat roasted tomato and arugula. The subtle scent of basil and the savory flavor of mozzarella cheese were really harmonious.

It's a clean-tasting pizza where the fragrant basil, fresh tomato flavor and the savory melted cheese come together — one bite and the cheese's soft, salty flavor mingles with the basil scent, filling your mouth with fragrance.

Cross-section of the chewy pizza crust

The crust in particular was really delicious — just the right thickness with a chewy texture that got more satisfying the more you chewed. I don't usually eat pizza crusts, but this one was so good I finished every last bit. It was even better dipped into the pumpkin soup or the rosé sauce.

Is Bueokgan Haeundae Branch worth a visit?

Overall, Bueokgan's dishes were all satisfying — not overly seasoned and letting the natural flavors of the ingredients shine. Between the spacious, upscale atmosphere and the well-rounded set composition, it was a truly satisfying meal. If you're looking for a Western restaurant with great atmosphere in Haeundae — a good Haeundae Western food spot or Haeundae brunch spot — give it a try. I recommend "Bueokgan Haeundae Branch."
