Indian restaurant in Suseong, Daegu: three dishes shared for 53,000

It's been such a long time since I went to Rama & Bavana, so here's my review of this Indian restaurant~! It's not my first time going — I used to go there often over a decade ago. A spot from my memories!

I remember loving the food back then, but at some point I stopped going, and this time I finally revisited with friends after all these years. I was curious whether it would still be as good as I remembered — and spoiler alert, it was still delicious this time too, haha.

Where Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch is, plus hours and parking

Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch is on the 2nd floor of 86 Yongghak-ro, Suseong-gu, Daegu. Hours are 11:30–21:20, with a break time from 15:00–16:30, last order at 20:30, and it's closed every Monday. There's a private parking lot behind the building.

There were three of us that day — me and two friends. The private lot behind the building fits around 8 cars. Around Suseong Lake, parking can be a real headache if you drive, so having a lot right behind the restaurant was a nice touch.

Full tables minutes after opening on a weekday

We got there right around opening time and were the first ones in. At first the restaurant felt pretty spacious, but by the time we'd ordered, customers kept streaming in even though it was a weekday.

There were office workers stopping in for lunch, as well as groups dining together, and before long almost every seat was taken. There was even a waitlist sheet posted on one wall. I'd guess weekends or peak mealtimes could mean a wait.

Oh my — the moment I walked in, I fell for that huge picture window. My mood was already set before the meal even started.

The first thing I loved about Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch was the huge picture window. The trees around Suseong Lake looked lush and green through it, and with great weather that day, my mood lifted the moment we walked in.

The wood-tone tables and warm lighting suited the space well, and I loved the relaxed atmosphere of eating with that green view in front of us.

It's a great spot for lunch with friends, and if you're looking for a place with atmosphere near Suseong Lake, this is one worth checking out.

What three of us ordered and what it cost

We ordered three dishes total that day.

• Mi goreng ₩16,000
• Beef curry ₩21,000
• Nasi goreng ₩16,000
• Total ₩53,000

Overall, all three dishes had a slight kick of spice. Not spicy enough to be overwhelming, but just enough to keep it from feeling greasy all the way through.

Nasi goreng served shaped like a round loaf

In the photo, this dish that looks like a round bun is actually the nasi goreng (fried rice dish). My friend loves this dish whenever we go to Rama & Bavana, so she ordered it again.

From the outside it looks like a round loaf of bread, but cut it open and it's packed with filling, plus cheese, which won over my greasy-food-loving palate.

With cheese inside, it could easily tip into feeling too rich, but the subtle spiciness balanced it out well. Now I get why my friend loves it so much, haha.

Mi goreng: fried noodles with big shrimp

The mi goreng (stir-fried noodle dish) deserves a shoutout too. The noodles were deeply coated in sauce with a mild spicy edge, which kept me reaching for more.

The shrimp in particular were big and plump, which made eating them with the noodles even better. It has a totally different vibe from the nasi goreng, so if you're going with a group, I'd recommend ordering both to share~!

Beef curry with garlic naan

You can't skip garlic naan with beef curry. I always add garlic naan whenever I go to an Indian restaurant.

The garlic naan had a crispy exterior, so it was delicious even torn off and eaten plain. Dipped generously into the curry, the crispy naan and rich curry flavor went really well together.

Back when I used to visit Rama & Bavana often, I remember loving the naan, and it was still just as good after all these years. The beef curry had that subtle spiciness throughout too, so it wasn't heavy at all, and it tasted even better with the garlic naan.

Still worth it ten years on

It had been well over a decade since I used to visit regularly, and revisiting after so long brought back memories of the flavors I used to eat. The food was still just as delicious, and this time the lush green view through the window overlooking Suseong Lake made the atmosphere even better.

Even though we arrived right at opening time on a weekday, seats filled up fast — it seems like a lot of people come here for lunch or gatherings with friends. With three of us ordering nasi goreng, mi goreng, and beef curry to share, we got to try a good variety.

I think I'll order the nasi goreng my friend loves again next time, and I'd love to have that crispy garlic naan with curry again too. Whenever I'm craving exotic dishes like curry, nasi goreng, or mi goreng in a nice atmosphere by Suseong Lake, this is a place I'll want to come back to.
