I was trying to figure out what to have for a delicious dinner when Indian curry popped into my head. I went with my family to Rama & Bavana, a famous Indian restaurant by Suseong Lake that's been around since 2004.

The seafood hot-plate fried rice came out on a plate so hot it was sizzling. That kept the food warm and the rice grains nice and fluffy. It was packed with fresh seafood, and the spicy fried rice seasoning had that fusion-style kick that Korean palates love — I ate it up happily!

Oriental (oil) pasta, 15,000 won

The oil pasta had fresh clams and shrimp mingling with the oil for a savory flavor that filled my mouth. The pasta was cooked just right and blended nicely with the moist clam broth. The broth itself was so good I scraped the plate clean 😊

Mild shrimp curry and naan the kids actually ate

Curry is the signature dish at Rama & Bavana, the beloved Indian restaurant by Suseong Lake! Honestly, I wanted the spicier chicken curry or beef curry, but because of the kids we ordered the mild shrimp curry instead. The spices weren't strong and it wasn't spicy at all, making it the perfect dish for children!

We ordered naan to dip in the curry, and it came out freshly baked and piping hot — we tore it apart with our hands and enjoyed every bite. The kids loved the naan so much we ended up ordering more haha;;

The tandoori chicken was more delicious than I expected! The crispy-grilled chicken thigh meat paired with the savory cream sauce made it the kind of dish you keep reaching for again and again 👍

The shrimp in the shrimp curry were huge — you could really feel that plump, popping texture in your mouth haha.

Rama & Bavana, a Suseong Lake favorite, is already famous as a specialist in Indian food in Daegu. I used to visit their other branches often back in my twenties. It had been a while since I ate there with my family, and the flavor was just as good as I remembered!! As an Indian restaurant by Suseong Lake, Rama & Bavana serves fusion Indian food that isn't overpoweringly spiced and suits Korean tastebuds, which made it even more enjoyable~ Not just the curry, but the pasta and tandoori cream chicken too — you could feel the care put into every single dish! Next time I want to come back for a get-together with friends!!
