In short

Odd Bird Oliver is a European-style Western and brunch restaurant in an alley near Exit 4 of Jeonpo Station in Busanjin, Busan. On the second morning of a Busan trip, two friends ordered the signature two-person set at 63,000 won, swapping in the ricotta caprese salad and pistachio jambon pasta alongside the chipotle roast chicken, and ordered extra house-baked focaccia that comes with the set. Today's post is about Odd Bird Oliver, a spot my friend and I visited on the second morning of our Busan trip while trying to figure out where to have a good brunch.

Jeonpo has so many pretty cafés and good restaurants, but that day I wanted something a bit more special and atmospheric than the usual brunch spot!

The vibe and the food were both so satisfying that this ended up being one of the most memorable places from our whole Busan trip.

If you're looking for a Jeonpo brunch spot, a Jeonpo pasta spot, or a Seomyeon pasta spot, this one's worth a visit!

Where is Odd Bird Oliver, and how far is it from Jeonpo Station?

Odd Bird Oliver is located at 33 Dongseong-ro 15beon-gil, 1st floor, Busanjin-gu, Busan. Come out of Exit 4 of Jeonpo Station and walk about 100m into the alley and you'll find it.

Walking through Jeonpo's charming little alleys, you naturally stumble on the place — it wasn't hard to find at all.

Being close to Jeonpo Station makes it easy to reach by public transport, and it's also convenient from Seomyeon, so it's a solid location if you're searching for a Jeonpo brunch spot or a Seomyeon pasta spot.

Above all, tucked into a Jeonpo alley, it had a more relaxed, cozy feel rather than a busy main-street vibe. The menu is posted right at the entrance, so you can check it before going in.

Inside Odd Bird Oliver: the European interior and the name's meaning

The moment I stepped inside, what I felt right away was that full European atmosphere!

The interior overall is warm and cozy with sentimental little decor pieces added in, so it's great for brunch with a friend, but it would also suit a date spot nicely.

If you like that particular emotional, cozy Jeonpo-style space, I think it'll be right up your alley.

Even though we visited on a weekday morning during our second day in Busan, there were already quite a few customers enjoying their meals! There were pairs, and even families with several members, so the relaxed atmosphere seemed comfortable to dine in no matter who you come with!

The name Odd Bird Oliver also has a fun meaning behind it. "Odd bird" means a strange or eccentric person, and apparently the idea is that this Western-style restaurant creates fun, lively food based on Oliver's own unique taste.

Rather than the usual common menu items, you could really feel in the food that the place's direction is to offer a good experience through something a little unusual but delicious!

In particular, they make every sauce used across the whole menu in-house over a long time, and even bake their own focaccia to go with the food — you could really tell how much care goes into each dish.

Above all, Odd Bird Oliver is a pet-friendly zone and a welcome-kids zone, so it's a place everyone, regardless of age, can enjoy together!

Looking through the menu, there were more choices than I expected — sandwiches, pastas, brunch dishes, and a variety of drinks!

At lunch you can enjoy a light brunch of sandwiches and pasta, and in the evening it's set up nicely for dining with wine or beer.

What I liked most, though, was the set menu. Since we wanted to try a little bit of everything, we ordered the signature two-person set for ₩63,000.

The basic composition is salad + pasta + chipotle roast chicken, but you can swap the salad and pasta for other menu items, so we changed ours to match our taste.

Since you can pick your dishes this way, if two people are visiting and want to try a variety of food, going with the set menu seems like a great option.

Another highlight: ordering the set gets you 2 pieces of house-baked focaccia as a complimentary side. I expected it to be good since it's baked in-house, but when I tried it, it was seriously so, so good.

Drinks at Odd Bird Oliver: black tea lemonade and iced Americano

Black tea lemonade and iced Americano

For drinks, we ordered the black tea lemonade and an iced Americano.

The black tea lemonade had the subtle aroma of black tea plus the refreshing tang of lemon. It wasn't just a sweet lemonade — the gentle black tea flavor came through too, so it paired well with the food, and its refreshing quality matched the brunch menu nicely.

The iced Americano's clean, slightly bitter coffee flavor didn't compete with the food's flavors and was easy to drink alongside the meal. Especially after rich dishes like the pasta or chicken, a sip of coffee cleaned the palate right up!

If you like refreshing drinks, I'd recommend the black tea lemonade; if you prefer a clean coffee, go with the iced Americano — either combo works great!

How the 63,000-won signature set for two actually tasted

Ricotta caprese salad and house-baked focaccia

First, we swapped the salad for the ricotta caprese salad from the basic menu.

With tomato, ricotta cheese, and basil, it looked fresh and bright just from the plating, and it really did taste that way too — the tomato's crisp flavor and the soft ricotta cheese went together beautifully. Add the fragrant basil on top, and it was a dish that cleanly refreshed the palate ☆

It was even better paired with the house-baked focaccia! The focaccia went well with the salad, and it was also great dipped in sauce — honestly it was so good we ended up ordering more.

Since it's baked in-house, the outside was light while the inside was soft and chewy — the kind of bread you just keep reaching for.

For the pasta, we also swapped from the basic option to the pistachio jambon pasta. This combination is a bit different from the pastas I usually eat, so I was even more excited to try it.

The nutty flavor of pistachio combined with the salty, tender jambon gave it a distinctive taste. The rich, nutty pistachio flavor blended really well with the pasta, and the jambon added a savory, salty kick here and there that kept me reaching for more!

If you're a bit tired of the usual tomato or cream pastas, this unusual dish is worth trying. It was exactly the kind of unique pasta we were hoping for while looking for a Jeonpo pasta spot.

Chipotle roast chicken

Last up, the chipotle roast chicken!

The roast chicken was really tender and easy to eat, and jalapeños added a gentle spicy kick. The soft, light chicken plus the sharp heat of the jalapeño made it not greasy at all, so I kept eating more.

While the salad and pasta had softer, nuttier flavors, the chipotle roast chicken snapped the palate back into focus in between, so the combination of all three dishes worked really well.

Overall, ordering just one signature two-person set let us try a variety of salad, pasta, and chicken, which was exactly right for a visit with a friend.

Is Odd Bird Oliver worth a brunch stop on a Busan trip?

Odd Bird Oliver made for a satisfying start to day two of our Busan trip with delicious food from the morning on. From the house-made sauces to the house-baked focaccia, you could really feel the time and care put into the food after trying the menu.

In particular, rather than the usual brunch menu, there were many unique combinations you can only get at Odd Bird Oliver, so I'd recommend it to anyone who loves trying something a little different ☆

If you're looking for a good-atmosphere brunch spot in Jeonpo, I'd recommend Odd Bird Oliver, a Jeonpo brunch spot. It's a great fit whether you want a relaxed brunch with a friend during a Busan trip, or delicious Western food on a date.
