Suwon pasta restaurant for octopus arancini: The European Haenggung

Looking for a nice-atmosphere restaurant in Haenggung-dong, I properly found one this time… The European 🤍 The moment I took a bite, I totally understood why it's called a Haenggung-dong pizza spot…!

📍 The location is amazing too, right near Hwaseong Fortress. A perfect stop while strolling around Haenggung-dong! The vibe is so good for a date that I already felt half-successful walking in.

What is the atmosphere like at The European Haenggung?

The moment you walk in, it feels like a small European restaurant!

The lighting was warm and the wood-tone interior made for great photos 📸 A space that just puts you in a good mood ✨

We ordered three dishes that day: burrata margherita pizza, oil pasta, and octopus arancini. It wasn't just a place with a nice atmosphere — the food was genuinely delicious too, so satisfaction was high 🤍

Burrata margherita pizza

First off, the burrata margherita pizza was gorgeous just to look at! A basic margherita with tomato sauce and cheese, topped with burrata, made it even creamier and richer-tasting.

The pizza dough stood out especially — slightly crispy outside, chewy inside, great texture. The bright tang of the tomato sauce paired really well with the softness of the burrata 🍅🧀

With burrata spread evenly over the pizza, one bite brought a big hit of savoriness — personally the most memorable dish of the day!

Oil pasta

Eating pizza alone can feel a bit heavy, so we also ordered the oil pasta! Clean and light on an oil base, it went great alongside the pizza.

The noodles were cooked just right with a springy bite, and there was a nutty, subtle flavor from the oil. Not too intense or heavy — the kind of taste that keeps you reaching back for more. A bite of pizza, then a bite of pasta — the combo was perfect 🤍

If you're visiting with a group, I'd recommend ordering pizza and pasta together!

Octopus arancini

And the dish that surprised me by being way better than expected — the octopus arancini! Crispy on the outside, soft inside, fun texture from the first bite.

You could feel the chewy texture of octopus throughout, which gave it a different charm from a regular arancini. Crispy-outside-soft-inside plus octopus made it addictive…! It was different enough from the pizza and pasta that ordering all three made the meal feel much more varied.

And the draft beer too! It was a bit pricey, but the clean, crisp taste went so well with the pizza and pasta that we scraped every plate clean,, want it again already

Why The European works as a Haenggung-dong date course

Overall, every dish tasted great, and more than anything, I really loved the atmosphere of the space at The European ✨ If you're looking for a nice-atmosphere restaurant for a date in Haenggung-dong, this is one I'd recommend.

It's also great to visit as a course that flows from a meal near Hwaseong Fortress into a walk around Haenggung-dong, or whenever you want delicious food in a pretty setting! The combination of burrata margherita pizza + oil pasta + octopus arancini is worth keeping in mind when you're stuck choosing what to order 🤍

Personally, I'd recommend ordering all three dishes together to share! From the rich, soft flavor of the pizza to the light oil pasta to the crispy texture of the octopus arancini, each dish had its own charm, so we never got tired of eating. 🫶🏻

Most of all, with both the food and the store's atmosphere being this good, the whole meal itself was just enjoyable. If you're looking for a special dining spot in Haenggung-dong or a great-atmosphere date restaurant, I think it's worth a visit at least once 🤍
