Seongsu Station Korean BBQ birthday dinner: Seongsu Teojeon

In short

Seongsu Teojeon Ttukseom Main Branch is an aged pork belly restaurant a five-minute walk from Ttukseom Station and Seoul Forest Station in Seongdong, Seoul. To celebrate a friend from abroad turning a year older in Korea, the writer booked a Friday 6:30pm table and ordered the 250-hour aged pork belly 400g (36,000 won) and Chungcheong-do grandma-style cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew, 9,000 won), with a staff member grilling the meat from start to finish. Between the quality of the pork, the side dishes and the friendly service, the writer is already planning a return visit to Seongsu Teojeon.

Seongsu Teojeon Ttukseom Main Branch is the Seongsu Station restaurant I dug up online for a foreign friend visiting Korea for their birthday! If you're looking for a killer pork belly restaurant near Seoul Forest for dinner, this post is for you. Spoiler: I was genuinely satisfied and already have a return visit planned – here's the review :)

💙 Good to know: It's just a 5-minute walk from Ttukseom Station and Seoul Forest Station, so accessibility was great :) Group dining and reservations available, wifi available. High chairs on hand, popular for both work dinners and dates.

Signature aged-meat fridge facing the entrance

Seongsu Teojeon, this Seongsu Station favorite, is on the 2nd floor, and the signature aged-meat fridge is right in front of you as soon as you walk in. It had that casual, laid-back Seongsu-dong vibe.

Terrace-style seating with fully open outdoor space

This is the spot I'm claiming for next time too! The outdoor side is fully open like a terrace, so ventilation was really good :) I visited on a Friday evening with a 6:30 reservation, and

the place was already practically full inside. It seems to be famous as a pork belly restaurant near Seoul Forest, because it was packed with groups of friends, dates, and coworker dinners all around!

What we ordered at Seongsu Teojeon near Seoul Forest

Menu board at Seongsu Teojeon Ttukseom Main Branch and the Teojeon Popular Platter

After searching through every meat restaurant near Seoul Forest, I picked Seongsu Teojeon Ttukseom Main Branch — its signature is the Teojeon Popular Platter for 2 (pork belly, pork neck, vegetables)! Naturally I thought I should order that, but oh my, my foreign friend is a pork-belly-only kind of person…

Menu listing for the 250-hour aged pork belly

Also, since the Popular Platter comes to 500g of meat total, which seemed like a lot for two women, we went with the 250-hour aged pork belly, 200g per person for two.

Staff grill the pork belly from start to finish

The reason I chose Seongsu Teojeon Ttukseom Main Branch was the meat quality (I even asked ChatGPT whether this actually sounded like fresh, good meat). From beginning to end, a skilled staff member grilled the meat for us…! (Amazing)

While chatting with my friend, the pork belly kept coming out perfectly cooked, lined up in neat rows ♥ (If you're looking for a restaurant where staff grill the meat for you, this is it…!!) The staff were also incredibly kind, so I think it would be a great spot to bring someone you want to treat, or even your parents :)

How the 250-hour aged pork belly and side dishes tasted

I had high expectations for the 250-hour aged pork belly, and it delivered — the deep, rich flavor characteristic of aged meat, plus a perfect balance between pork belly's signature fattiness and nuttiness! What I especially loved was how many side dishes there were to pair it with.

Starting with salt, then moving through fermented hairtail intestine sauce, perilla leaf pesto, and salted shrimp — a new flavor with every bite, loved it!

A pot of Chungcheong-do grandma-style cheonggukjang

Chungcheong-do grandma-style cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), ₩9,000. Personally, this was the dish I was most satisfied with! Halfway through eating pork belly, you start craving something warm and savory in broth form, and cheonggukjang did exactly that job.

Deep, rich flavor loaded with hearty ingredients like tofu, zucchini, and green onion — and it paired perfectly with rice, the carb every Korean needs. (White rice topped with pork belly, then a bite of cheonggukjang) (And a sip of cola/Sprite = pure bliss)

Ramyeon noodles ordered alongside the pork belly

Ramyeon noodles with the pork belly: spicier than Shin Ramyun

I figured tossing ramyeon noodles in with the pork belly would be delicious, so I gave it a try — it had cheongyang chili peppers in it, making it spicier than Shin Ramyeon, but the noodles were chewy and the broth had a sharp kick that was genuinely delicious…! It totally reset the greasiness from the pork belly. Ready to start round two…!

Is Seongsu Teojeon worth it for a birthday dinner in Seoul?

Final table spread of aged pork belly at Seongsu Teojeon Ttukseom Main Branch

What impressed me most about my visit to Seongsu Teojeon Ttukseom Main Branch was getting to try 250-hour aged meat. The meat quality was genuinely, seriously good! With the varied side dishes and friendly service on top of that, there was no reason not to come back. My foreign friend was totally satisfied too, which made the whole experience feel rewarding for me as well.

If you're looking for a restaurant near Seongsu Station or want aged pork belly near Ttukseom or Seoul Forest, this is a genuine must-visit! Hope you have a wonderful lunch or dinner there :)
