Gangnam Station dakgalbi with bibim makguksu: Dakgalbijeon Gangnam
In short
Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch is a dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) restaurant on the 2nd floor of Gangnam Diobil in Seocho, Seoul, where the chicken is wrapped in potato pancake before eating. This lunch was the gamssachidak set for two, with udon noodles, bibim makguksu (tangy buckwheat noodles) and flying fish roe fried rice to finish; the potato pancake was soft yet chewy and worked well with the sweet-and-spicy dakgalbi sauce. One tip: the restaurant is reached by the side staircase, since the building's main 1st-floor entrance leads to the 3rd floor.

I came to try Dakgalbijeon a while back. I was really curious about the combo of potato pancake and dakgalbi, and it turned out to be a fresh, unusual pairing haha.
Where is Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch, and how do you find the entrance?
Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch is on the 2nd floor of Gangnam Diobil on Seocho-daero 73-gil. It's not too far from the station, but public transit is probably more convenient than driving.
Dakgalbijeon, located on the 2nd floor

Don't go in through the building's main 1st-floor entrance! That one connects straight to the 3rd floor, so you can't reach the restaurant that way — you need to take the side staircase to get to the 2nd floor directly haha.
Why Dakgalbijeon works for a group meal near Gangnam Station

My first thought when I arrived was: this would be a great place for a group gathering. Between the menu and the table setup, it really seemed ideal for eating well together with a group.
If you're planning a get-together near Gangnam Station, this would be a good spot to come enjoy dakgalbi and potato pancake.
Gamssachidak: dakgalbi wrapped in potato pancake

There were two set menus: gamssadak and gamssachidak. We ordered the gamssachidak, which comes with cheese!
- Gamssachidak set for two
- Udon noodles
- Bibim makguksu (spicy buckwheat noodles)
This was the right amount for two people. And of course, after finishing it all, you have to get the fried rice at the end, right? Plan for that when you order haha!
What the gamssachidak set for two looks like on the table

It'd been a while since I'd had dakgalbi, and yep — dakgalbi is delicious lol. The sauce was just the right amount of spicy-sweet, the kind of dakgalbi that would go perfectly with drinks!
We came for lunch so we couldn't drink, but if you come for a Gangnam Station gathering and have a drink alongside it, I bet it'd be even better.
The potato pancake was the highlight of the meal

I already liked potato pancake, but dakgalbi with potato pancake? A combo I'd never seen before — and it works great haha.
If you come here for a drink with a Gangnam Station group, this is my top pick as a side dish. The potato pancake is soft yet chewy, and wrapping it around dakgalbi to eat together is delicious.
Tangy bibim makguksu on the side

The tangy flavor pairs really well with the dakgalbi too. If you come to Dakgalbijeon for a Gangnam Station gathering, I think this bibim makguksu is a must-order. The chef really nails the flavor lol.

It's tasty just dipped in soy sauce, plain. It's good on its own, good with dakgalbi, good with the makguksu, good with the fried rice lol. This potato pancake just goes with everything!
The melted cheese that made the gamssachidak

We debated between original and cheese, and went with cheese — good thing we did, or it would've been a shame haha.
The nutty flavor of the cheese is delicious. If you come for a Gangnam Station gathering, try ordering the cheese version. It's savory and delicious haha.

The udon noodles soaked up the sauce nicely too — really good. This would honestly be perfect with soju... but we were on a lunch break from work, so no drinks this time, ugh. If you come for a Gangnam Station gathering, try this with a soju!

I also tried wrapping the dakgalbi in makguksu noodles — I thought the overlapping sauces might not work, but surprisingly the two flavors played well together in my mouth. That combo was pretty good too.

I came to Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch out of curiosity at first, but after eating, that curiosity turned into conviction haha.
Flying fish roe fried rice, stir-fried by the owner

We were already really full, but not getting fried rice after eating dakgalbi feels like a crime... so we ordered one, and the owner stir-fried it right there for us haha.
Final verdict on lunch at Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch

I came in curious about the dakgalbi and potato pancake combo, and it turned out to work better than expected, with good flavor overall. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely come back for more!
