Jijok-dong, Daejeon udon restaurant with highballs: Gatjidong Noeun

Today I'm introducing a restaurant in Jijok-dong, Yuseong, with all kinds of menus — pork cutlet, udon, curry and more — called "Gatjidong" haha :)

Inside Gatjidong Noeun Branch and how table ordering works

Gatjidong Noeun Branch has a clean yet cozy atmosphere, and there's a table-order tablet at every table, so ordering is a breeze. The restaurant and tables are both spacious, making it perfect for a family meal out.

The sign has the phrase "Gatjidong — a freshly-made delicious meal" written on it. You could feel the care put into the name from the start.

There's a nostalgic "ppopgi" (grab-toy) corner with snacks, junk food, and Chapagetti cup noodles, so it looks like fun for anyone visiting with kids.

Is parking easy at Gatjidong Noeun Branch?

Gatjidong Noeun Branch has a wide parking area right in front of the restaurant, so there's no need to worry about parking even on busy weekends. There's space both directly in front and to the side of the store.

The self-serve bar with old-style Western soup

After ordering via the table tablet, you can head to Gatjidong's self-serve bar to help yourself to old-style Western soup, rice, soy soup, and side dishes like kimchi, pickled radish, and soy sauce as much as you want.

I love the old-style Western soup, so I got some before the meal. Looked like a lot of kids had come through at lunchtime and had plenty too.

What we ordered in Jijok-dong and what it cost

At Gatjidong Noeun Branch we ordered the hamburger steak cutlet set for ₩13,800, tomato citrus salmon udon for ₩15,800, and Tongyeong oyster tempura (5pcs) for ₩5,000.

Hamburger steak and pork cutlet set, 13,800 won

The hamburger steak cutlet set was great because you get to enjoy hamburger steak alongside the cutlet, and the portion was quite generous. Both the hamburger steak and the cutlet were thick and plump, served with salad, so it never felt heavy.

Tomato green citrus salmon udon, 15,800 won

The most memorable dish was the tomato citrus salmon udon. The salmon was cut long and plump, so you could keep biting into it endlessly, and pairing it with the sweet-and-sour tomato and refreshing citrus cold broth made for a real treat. Highly recommend if you like salmon! 🫧🤍

Tongyeong oyster tempura, 5,000 won

The oyster tempura we had as a side is also not to be missed — the oysters were fried crispy outside and juicy inside, plump and served with cream-sauced cabbage shreds, so it never felt greasy and I kept reaching for more. The batter wasn't too thick either, so the natural flavor of the oyster really came through :)

A Johnnie Walker highball with dinner

Since we visited in the evening, we had a Johnnie Walker highball alongside the meal. A sip whenever things start to feel rich is really nice. Right when the cutlet and the salmon udon started to feel a bit heavy, the highball cut right through it. Seems like a good spot for a drink after work too.

Who Gatjidong Noeun Branch suits best

Overall, the portions were generous for the price and the atmosphere was clean, making it a comfortable choice for both dates and family outings. The tomato citrus salmon udon in particular was so satisfying that it's stuck in my mind, so if you're passing through Jijok-dong it's worth a stop :) With half-and-half cutlets, gyudon, and pasta also on the menu, there's plenty to try on a return visit.

Gatjidong Noeun Branch also has various coupons for beer and side dishes, so it's worth knowing about and using ahead of time.

Gatjidong Yuseong Noeun Branch is close to the National Cemetery and the World Cup Stadium, and with its varied, special menu it's great for family visits with kids or elderly parents. The table-order system also makes it convenient for nearby office workers who want a quick meal.
