Gangnam dakgalbi restaurant, cheese fried rice finish: Dakgalbijeon
In short
Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch is a dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Gangnam Diobil Building in Seocho, Seoul, between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station, served with perilla leaf potato pancakes. On a weekday evening the Gamssachidak set for two came with added cheese rice cake and udon noodles, finished with cheese fried rice stirred at the table by the owner. Wrapping the spicy dakgalbi in the nutty perilla potato pancake was the combination most worth ordering.

I wanted to introduce a great-value restaurant near Gangnam Station where you can eat really well! The combination of dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) and potato pancake was new to me, but wow, what a match made in heaven!!!!! Spicy dakgalbi with savory potato pancake was seriously delicious.
Where is Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch, and is there parking?
Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch is in a location that's easy to reach from Gangnam Station, and best of all, parking is convenient. Even if you drive, you can park in the building's underground lot for 1 hour, so you can visit worry-free :)

Dakgalbijeon is on the 2nd floor of the building! You go up to the 2nd floor via the stairs outside the building.

Dakgalbijeon on a weekday evening: hall and group tables
I visited Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch on a weekday evening and it was packed with people! There's also group seating, so it's great for company dinners or gatherings.

Coming up to the 2nd floor, the wall lists Dakgalbijeon's signature menu items: jjolim dakgalbi (braised dakgalbi), perilla leaf potato pancake, and iced nurungji tea. I think the owner is really good at naming things haha! Just hearing the names 'jjolim dakgalbi' and 'perilla leaf potato pancake' makes them sound delicious!
The restaurant was on the larger side and fairly dim, which made for a great atmosphere for eating and having a drink!

What comes in the Dakgalbijeon set menus

We ordered Dakgalbijeon's signature set menu! It's divided into sets for 2, 3, and 4 people, which was nice. Cheese is a must, so we ordered the Gamssachidak for two!

You can also order side dishes separately, and Dakgalbijeon's clever touch is a separate lighter set menu for customers who come for a second round after a meal! The wide range of menu options was really nice.
Gamssachidak set for two with cheese rice cake and udon noodles
Ta-da! The dakgalbi came out with added cheese rice cake and udon noodles.

The perilla leaf potato pancake came out too, crispy outside and moist and chewy inside!

Only parts of the outside were crispy, so you get to enjoy a variety of textures — crispy outside, soft inside :)
The perilla leaves were also cut into big pieces, so their distinctive aroma went really well with the savory potato.

There was so much cheese piled on top that it paired so goood with the red sauce dakgalbi!!! ♥

Once the chewy udon noodles went in, it definitely got even more delicious. The seasoning soaked evenly into the udon noodles, so it wasn't bland — the seasoning was just right!
As it simmered down over the heat, the cheese was fully melted before we knew it.

A bite of dakgalbi with cheese — yum.

Wrapping the dakgalbi in the savory potato pancake! Highly, highly recommend.
Cheese fried rice to finish the dakgalbi
The fried rice made with the leftover sauce, which the owner strongly recommended! At Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch, the owner cooks it for you personally.

It was seriously delicious ㅠㅠ We ordered the cheese fried rice, and the cheese was completely piled on. Look at all that cheese... it was seriously insane ㅠㅠ

It wasn't too salty or too bland, the seasoning was just right, and above all, it had that cheesy rice feel that made it so delicious.

You know fried rice tastes best when you press it down hard, right haha. We pressed it down over low heat to get it nice and crispy on the bottom.

If you love a thick, crusty texture, definitely order the cheese fried rice.
