Gwacheon duck soup and jjamppong rice at Deo Chadol restaurant

In short

Deo Chadol is a grilled-meat restaurant in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, serving duck and chadol (thinly sliced beef brisket) dishes. On a return visit, we shared chadol duck soup, chadol jjamppong rice, and perilla oil makguksu. Verdict: a warm, filling choice for a family meal.

I recently went back to Deo Chadol in Gwacheon, where I had enjoyed a meal before~ Last time we focused on the grilled duck and chadol, but this time we tried the meal dishes instead, and each one had such a different feel that it was charming in another way!

The chadol duck soup had a hearty, rich broth; the chadol jjamppong rice was spicy and generous; and the perilla oil makguksu was nutty and light, so having all three together made for a really nice combination^^

Deo Chadol is fun even for anyone trying grilled duck and chadol for the first time, but I think it would also be a good place to visit just for the meal dishes without having grilled meat. It is fairly close to Seonbawi Station and has parking, so it is an easy place to visit when looking for a family dinner or a meal spot around Gwacheon!

A return visit for the meal menu

After visiting once, the food and atmosphere stayed in my mind because they were both nice, so I came back again after a while. Places you liked after trying them once somehow feel especially welcoming when you return!

We wondered what to order this time and chose something a little different from usual! We ordered chadol duck soup, chadol jjamppong rice, and perilla oil makguksu! Even the combination sounded generous, so it was great for trying a bit of everything!!

Warm, spicy broth in the chadol duck soup

We started with the chadol duck soup~ When you think of duck soup, you usually picture a rich, thick broth first, but adding chadol gave it another appeal! The broth was warm and spicy, with a flavor that kept drawing me back^^

따뜻하고 얼큰한 차돌 오리탕

The distinctive nutty flavor of the chadol really added to the broth, making it quite flavorful~ Having the meat and broth together was satisfying, and it felt like the kind of dish I would crave even more once the weather turns a little cool! If you like chadol, I think it is worth trying at least once!

Chadol jjamppong rice for a satisfying meal

Another dish I personally enjoyed this time was the chadol jjamppong rice! With rice in jjamppong’s signature spicy, rich broth, it made for a wonderfully filling meal!

얼큰한 국물의 차돌짬뽕밥

Maybe because it had chadol in it, it had a nutty flavor that differed from ordinary jjamppong, and mixing the rice into the broth made me feel so satisfyingly full! Anyone who likes jjamppong broth will probably be pleased~^^

Perilla oil makguksu that pairs well with meat

When you are eating grilled meat, it is nice to have something that refreshes your palate along the way, right? That is why we ordered the perilla oil makguksu as well!!!

고소하고 담백한 들기름 막국수

The distinctive nutty aroma of perilla oil came through gently, and the noodles were light yet nutty, so they were easy to eat without feeling heavy~~ In particular, having the perilla oil makguksu alongside rich, oily dishes like chadol worked so well!

The light flavor of the makguksu itself also made it nice to alternate with the meat, and I could enjoy it right through to the end without getting tired of it!!

Sharing three meal dishes

A return visit sharing three dishes

We ordered these three dishes on this visit, and I also liked that each had a different flavor profile, so we could enjoy them all evenly~~ When you are craving warm, spicy broth, chadol duck soup or chadol jjamppong rice would be good choices; when you want something lighter and nuttier, the perilla oil makguksu would be a great pick!

More than anything, I think the fact that our family came back to a place we had visited before says that we were quite satisfied! We ate deliciously on our first visit, and trying different dishes this time revealed another side of its appeal! Rather than having only one dish, I think ordering several to share would be even better because you can enjoy a variety of flavors~~

If you are craving chadol dishes or warm broth in Gwacheon, or looking for a filling place to eat, Deo Chadol in Gwacheon could be a good choice~ That wraps up this return-visit review after another delicious meal! If I visit again, I would like to try the other dishes we did not get to have this time, one by one~
