Hongdae dumpling bar with gyoza that survives the subway: MANDOO BAR
In short
MANDOO BAR is a dumpling bar (mandu restaurant) on Hongdae's Red Road in Seoul, on the second floor right next to the KT&G Sangsangmadang building. The takeout-only taco gyoza and the signature MANDOO BAR gyoza were picked up and carried home on a packed rush-hour Line 1 train, and the toppings, the look and the crisp bottoms of the gyoza all held up. MANDOO BAR is worth packing up for a picnic or a baseball game too.

Wait, you eat this on the street?! The Hongdae Red Road restaurant MANDOO BAR's takeout comeback
Hongdae's Red Road has all kinds of street food — waffles, tteokbokki, ice cream — plenty of variety, but all classic street snacks. In 2026 Hongdae, a dumpling dish showed up that I'd never seen as street food before! I got it to go, so let me introduce MANDOO BAR, a quirky street food spot that turns dumplings into a full dish!

Where is MANDOO BAR? Second floor next to Sangsangmadang on Hongdae Red Road
Red Road is packed with Hongdae hotspots, and this one's easy to find — right next to the KT&G Sangsangmadang building. If you go to Hongdae often, this spot will feel very familiar!
Being on Red Road made it super easy to find. Just head straight for the Sangsangmadang building and you'll arrive.

It's located on the 2nd floor, but you can order via QR code on the 1st floor too, so you can comfortably mull over the menu and then pick up. Checking out the MANDOO BAR menu, it was full of inventive dumpling dishes I'd never seen before.

From takeout-friendly gyoza to dumpling hot pots you can only enjoy in-store, the menu covered everything from a full meal to drinking snacks.

I popped up for pickup and the vibe was so nice that I wanted to sit and eat dumpling hot pot right there, looking out over Hongdae's Red Road!

What we took away from MANDOO BAR: taco gyoza and MANDOO BAR gyoza
From the menu, I got the Taco Gyoza and the MANDOO BAR signature gyoza to go.

Taco Gyoza is a takeout-only item — taco gyoza plus guacamole nacho chips — one menu item but the set felt really generous.

Does the taco gyoza survive a rush-hour subway ride?
I had to take Line 1 home after getting my takeout from MANDOO BAR. And of course, it was rush hour — total hell subway lol

There were so many toppings piled on the Taco Gyoza dumplings that I worried they might collapse, and whether the crispiness would hold up — but in the end, totally fine!!

Even after being jostled and bumped against people's legs on the subway the whole way, it kept its picture-perfect look right up until I got home, and the gyoza stayed just as crispy! It's a great Hongdae Red Road restaurant to eat in-store, but I'd also recommend taking it outdoors to enjoy in all kinds of places!

How MANDOO BAR gyoza tastes: binghwa-style crisp lace, dried radish in the kimchi dumplings
MANDOO BAR gyoza is cooked like Chinese-style binghwa mandu (ice-flower dumplings), so the top is chewy and the inside is moist.

And a crunchy crust fills the whole bottom. When you order gyoza, you can choose meat or kimchi dumplings.

I figured meat would suit the taco gyoza better, so I got that all-meat, and for the MANDOO BAR gyoza I ordered it half kimchi, half meat!

MANDOO BAR's kimchi dumplings have one kick that regular kimchi dumplings don't — dried radish strips (mumallaengi) mixed in! The crunchy, spicy bite went really well with the crispy dumpling. And for the Taco Gyoza, you can choose whether or not to add cilantro,

and since I love cilantro, I ordered mine with it! Adding cilantro filled it with that fragrant aroma and really brought the taco flavor to life even more! Adding cilantro is a total recommend~~~! I got curious partway through and tried the kimchi dumplings with the taco toppings, and it was surprisingly good!
The packaging is made of sturdy material, so there's no need to worry about carrying it to a picnic spot, and it'd be easy to eat outdoors too!

Is MANDOO BAR takeout good for a picnic or a baseball game?
Also, since the Taco Gyoza set comes with nachos and guacamole, it made me think of watching baseball at the ballpark! A perfect spread for eating while catching a game...!
I tried two menu items at MANDOO BAR, and I fully approve of this Hongdae Red Road restaurant!

If you've got a fall picnic planned or you're heading to catch a baseball game, grab some gyoza takeout from MANDOO BAR, a Hongdae Red Road restaurant, for something easy and delicious.
