Gongdeok café hallabong madeleine & salt bread haul: Fluffy Bake Shop
In short
Fluffy Bake Shop is a dessert café specializing in madeleines, financiers, and canelés, a short walk from Gongdeok Station Exit 2 in Mapo, Seoul. On a late weekday lunch visit some canelés were already sold out, but Fluffy Bake Shop still had salt bread, lemon, plain, hallabong, and espresso pecan madeleines, plus nunettine and apple churros financiers — seven items in all, each wrapped individually. The pastries were still crisp the next day, which makes Fluffy Bake Shop an easy pick for dessert gifts.

Late weekday lunch: what sells out first
I visited on a weekday during the late-lunch hours, and true to its reputation as a popular Gongdeok dessert spot, a lot of things had already sold out, so next time I'll have to come for the opening run! Anyway, let me introduce them one by one.

How many madeleine and financier flavors are there?
Fluffy Bake Shop offers black sesame madeleines, Earl Grey madeleines, yuzu madeleines, chocolate madeleines, plain madeleines, vanilla madeleines, hallabong (Korean tangerine) madeleines, Nutella madeleines, espresso pecan madeleines, and lemon madeleines — a huge range. The canelés are popular too, though the Earl Grey and vanilla canelés were sold out when I visited.

There are cute carrot madeleines too, plus nunettine (glazed sugar cookie) financiers, apple churros financiers, almond financiers, melon financiers, egg tarts, and even Dubai egg tarts — all the popular desserts are here at Fluffy Bake Shop, so dessert lovers, come running.

And there's even good-looking salt bread — can you really not buy it? No, you cannot.
The 7-item haul, salt bread included

From left: salt bread, lemon madeleine, plain madeleine, hallabong madeleine, espresso pecan madeleine, nunettine financier, and apple churros financier! The overall quality and look of the desserts was so good that I didn't feel bad buying a lot..^^ Honestly I wanted to grab even more, so next time I'll do an opening run and get everything I want >_<

Since these were for me, I didn't ask for gift wrapping, so they went into a basic paper bag, but everything was individually wrapped piece by piece, which I liked from a hygiene standpoint too.

Nunettine financier: still crisp the next day
Everything was delicious, but my personal favorite was the nunettine financier — even eaten the day after purchase, the topping was still crisp and the nutty flavor of the pastry really came through.

The lemon madeleine had a lemon coating that hit with tang and sweetness right from the first bite, and the espresso pecan madeleine had a nice balance between subtle coffee aroma and crumble topping.

And isn't the salt bread huge?! Even the next day the flavor really came through, and overall the dessert quality was perfect. If I ever need to gift dessert, or someone asks me to recommend a good dessert spot, this Gongdeok bake shop is the one I'd recommend — I was 100% satisfied. If you like madeleines, financiers, and baked pastries, please visit at least once! For anyone looking for a good dessert restaurant or dessert café in Gongdeok, I recommend Fluffy Bake Shop near Gongdeok Station :)
