Apgujeong Rodeo nail salon white gradient wedding nails: Naeil Didi

In short

Naeil Didi is a nail and pedicure salon on the 5th–6th floors of a building near Apgujeong Rodeo Station in Gangnam, Seoul, known for its wedding nails. Ahead of a wedding photo shoot, the writer had an almond milk base with a white gradient at Naeil Didi, shaped close to a square because her nail beds are wide. The design was subtle enough to photograph well, and she left wanting her wedding-day nails done at Naeil Didi too.

Why wedding nails were a must before the photo shoot

Guys, want to know something crazy? My wedding photoshoot is this week!!! 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️ Can't believe the day is finally here???? Not that you asked…?!???ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Why does one photoshoot require so much prep? Props, mood boards, skin care~~~ ugh

Apparently I was supposed to dye my hair too but I skipped it..^^ My hair is thin, and once I dyed it brown and ended up stuck with yellow hair for 3 years. It never went back to normal and stressed me out so much that I just covered it with gray-coverage dye instead. I'm the type who only does what's absolutely necessary, but the one thing I decided I had to do?!? Wedding nails, obviously!!! 💅

Most people recommend wedding nails the same way they recommend changing up your hair! And I love getting nail art done anyway~~ I'd had this salon scoped out for about three months, and I finally went and got my nails done there!! Completely satisfied!!!!!!!!!!

📍Naeil Didi. Naeil Didi Nail Art in Apgujeong Rodeo is famous for being great at wedding nails, and I was seriously 200% satisfied ㅠㅠㅠ

When should you get your wedding nails done?

Normally I hate having long nails so I keep them trimmed as short as possible. But since I heard longer nails look prettier for wedding photos, I got a one-color manicure a month ago to start growing them out. If your nails break easily like mine, I'd recommend a one-color mani 3–4 weeks before your wedding nails! Also, apparently people end up disliking the design more often than you'd think? So instead of getting them done the day before your shoot or ceremony, I'd recommend booking at least 2–3 days ahead.

Naeil Didi's clean interior with window view

Inside Naeil Didi: window-side seats and a separate pedicure room

The interior at Naeil Didi was seriously spotless, and I loved that so much. Nice open views too! The space was pretty spacious as well, so it felt really comfortable.

There's a separate area just for pedicures too, very pleasant~

This is where nail art happens! I'm a huge fan of window views, so after going to plenty of nail salons that were pretty but felt closed-off, coming somewhere this open felt way more comfortable.

Almond milk base with a white gradient

A lot of people go for white gradient, powder nails, or magnetic nails for wedding nails. Based on my friends' recommendations I brought a design with a slightly cheek-toned magnetic gradient, but when I mentioned it was for wedding nails, they recommended this design instead. At first I thought it might be too simple, but once it was done I was completely satisfied!! It's not too white, so it doesn't look dated, and it's subtly elegant ㅠㅠ Highly recommend this design.

Color chart of wedding nail base colors

You pick a base from these colors, then a white gradient goes on top. I kept seeing 'almond milk this and that' in reviews and wondered what it meant — turns out it's the color name. Almond milk is gorgeous…. 🩷

And honestly, the nail artist was so skilled and meticulous. I've basically lived as a nail-art regular for 7 years, and after my go-to salon in Ewha closed down, I really couldn't find another place that was actually good… This was the first time in a while I found a salon that was genuinely skilled!

Meticulous nail art application in progress

I usually like a round square shape, but since it was my first time getting wedding nails, I asked about shape. She said since my nails are wide, square would look prettier — round would make them look too rounded overall. That was the first time I understood why square suits me. Actually, she shaped it quite angular for a 'round square,' which made me nervous at first, but she explained that once the gel builds up it gets more rounded anyway, so if you start too round it ends up way too rounded. I've had experiences before where my nails ended up looking blunt after nail art, but here the angles stayed sharp even after everything was done!!!! Feels way less bulky ><

Square-shaped nails with crisp angles

The application was so meticulous too — she carefully applied the base nutrient coat layer by layer before adding color, so it's gentler on the nails. This is the almond milk shade applied! It's basically the trendy nude nail color right now, so it's gorgeous on its own too ㅠ

The person next to me was getting extension nail art. Syrup nails and magnetic nails are also apparently really popular! And they said they only use authentic Swarovski crystals for the parts.

Sponge and brush, stroke by stroke: the finished wedding nails

Here's the result of the gradient, done stroke by stroke with a sponge and brush!

White gradient result made with sponge and brush

So delicate and I love it so much 🩷🩷 I don't think this will look dated in photos even years from now ㅠ The tips were shaped as thin as possible so it feels less bulky, and the shape really makes my nails look longer!

Right after finishing, under direct lighting, I thought — is this too simple? But once I moved away from the lights, my satisfaction shot right up.

They look gorgeous in natural light too ㅠㅇㅠ Amazing, amazing!!! Please don't grow too much before the shoot, little nails~~

If it's your first time getting wedding nails

If you already get nail art regularly, you probably have a technician you trust, so you're fine. But if you don't usually get your nails done and are getting wedding nails for the first time, you really need to go somewhere genuinely skilled ㅠㅠㅠ There are more mediocre places out there than you'd expect… and plenty of people end up unhappy with the result! I want my actual wedding day nails done at Naeil Didi too! If you're looking for a place that's great at wedding nails, I recommend Naeil Didi Nail Art in Apgujeong Rodeo!!

Alright, off to have a great shoot! (After the shoot I'm having solo drinks and yeopttukbap.) Hope I make it back in one piece?🫪 Why does going to a photoshoot feel like going to take an exam? I'm usually good at exams though(???) Hope the shoot goes well too…🙏
