This time I visited Gyesu Garden (계수가든), a great restaurant near Starfield Bucheon.

The address is technically in Siheung, but it's right next to Bucheon, sitting between the two cities. This place even appeared on a TV show as a hidden gem near Bucheon! It's a charcoal galbi (short rib) specialist, and the ribs carry a subtle smoky aroma with a sweet, savory depth. Let's get into the review :)

Parking and wait times at Gyesu Garden

The front of Gyesu Garden is landscaped like a garden, and the parking area is spacious enough for free parking for over 40 cars. There's a wide open lot plus scattered single-car spots here and there.
It's about a 4-minute walk or 2-minute drive from Starfield Bucheon, making it a great stop before or after shopping. It's also close to Daeya-dong, Beombak-dong, and Okgil-dong, and there's a bus stop nearby! You can also register for the waitlist via the Catch Table kiosk at the entrance. I visited at 12pm on a weekend and got seated with no wait at all!
Old-school dining room that suits family meals
The interior of Gyesu Garden has a comfortable, old-school restaurant feel. Walk further into the space shown in the photo and you'll find more tables — overall it's on the spacious side.
The tables are wide and well suited for groups, so it looked like a great spot for family meals, group gatherings, or work dinners. There's also a kid's chair available, making it easy to dine with children. Even at lunchtime there were plenty of customers, and I noticed quite a few families out with their parents. After eating here myself, I found myself wanting to bring my own parents next time!
There's a self-serve bar on one side. You can grab extra banchan if you run low, along with wrap veggies and garlic oil to drizzle over the charcoal grill as needed.
Gyesu Garden menu and prices
Gyesu Garden has a nice touch — order meat and you get a free café drink. Staff bring by a checklist near the end of the meal so you can order comfortably. There's also a weekday meat set course, available weekdays from 11:30 to 21:00.
For two people, we ordered the Gyesu Signature Set for ₩65,000. It comes with two servings of seasoned pork galbi and one serving of LA galbi, 700g total — plenty for two people to eat well. The set is ₩2,000 cheaper than ordering items separately, so it's a good choice even for larger groups :)
Generous banchan before the meat arrives

Since I'd booked ahead, the basic banchan (side dishes) were already set up right on time. The bouncy steamed egg was soft and sweet, and I loved it, while the mung bean jelly was mild and paired well with the galbi. The white wood ear mushroom salad had a tangy, refreshingly citrus-like flavor. From the banchan alone, everything tasted natural rather than artificial, which I really liked.

I grabbed the wrap veggies from the self-serve bar! There were three kinds — lettuce, perilla leaves, and chicory — plenty for making generous wraps.
A tomato ricotta cheese salad comes as a default side, and it's absolutely gorgeous to look at. It's a light dish to enjoy before diving into the meat.
Since it's whole tomato, I halved it and popped a piece in my mouth. With the ricotta cheese, each bite was tangy with a subtle sweetness, and since the skin had been peeled off, the texture was soft — the overall balance was great. It's the perfect palate cleanser before the meat course. I don't usually eat tomatoes much, but with this kind of flavor, I feel like I could eat them every day..!

They also serve domestic yellow crab seasoned crab (yangnyeom gejang) as a standard side! The crab meat was so packed in that a single bite delivered a generous mouthful. It's salty with a spicy-sweet seasoning that brings out real savory depth — it was genuinely delicious seasoned crab, so I immediately ordered a bowl of rice to go with it.
LA galbi in the Gyesu Signature Set
The main event, the Gyesu Signature Set, arrived quickly. A BBQ spot where you can enjoy both LA galbi and pork galbi in one sitting! Just looking at it, it looked fresh and appetizing.
We started with the LA galbi first. As it grilled over the charcoal, that meaty aroma rose up, and it smelled great.
We watched eagerly as it browned to a nice golden color, waiting for it to finish cooking. They also placed the garlic oil sauce right on the grill alongside it!

The ribs came out perfectly grilled! Since it's seasoned meat, the grill tends to char up, but if you ask, the staff will swap it out right away.

The LA galbi was truly tender and juicy. It's subtly sweet, and the charcoal aroma soaked in makes it even more delicious.

It's delicious over rice, and it also pairs perfectly with pickled onions! The ribs are so tender they practically melt in your mouth.

Grilled shishito peppers and mushrooms are great eaten together with the meat in one bite. There's no greasiness at all, which makes you curious about their secret sauce — a real hidden gem near Bucheon.
How the aged seasoned pork galbi tastes
To keep the momentum going, they grilled the pork galbi next! Pork galbi has been my favorite food since childhood, so I was curious what Gyesu Garden's version would be like.

The pork galbi was just as tender as the LA galbi. Plenty of galbi restaurants are just plain sweet, but here it's aged with fruit and vegetable sweetness drawn out during the process, which gives it a noticeably deeper, more premium flavor. Topping it with garlic is an unbeatable combo!

They grilled the last remaining chunk of pork galbi too. The subtle charcoal aroma soaked in seemed to make the flavor even richer.

Sweet, juicy, and packed with savory depth — the pork galbi really delivered! Since I couldn't give up either the LA galbi or the pork galbi, I'll definitely order the Gyesu Signature Set again next time.
Free Gyesu Café drink with every meat order
As the meal was wrapping up, staff brought over the Gyesu Café drink checklist. The seasonal fresh fruit juice changes, and right now they're serving green grape juice. It's such a nice touch that café drinks come free per person — a fully satisfying dessert service :)

We ordered green grape juice and an iced Americano. The green grape juice, being made from real fruit, had a natural flavor with no artificial taste and just the right sweetness — perfect to sip. The iced Americano was nutty and rich, exactly to my taste!
After the meal, it's also nice to sip your dessert drink while strolling around the garden in front of the restaurant. With lush green trees, a small field, and spots to rest, it has a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere.
