Today's post is an honest review of an Okgil-dong pork BBQ restaurant where all four of us left completely satisfied.

I finally found a pork BBQ place in Okgil-dong, Bucheon, that every single member of our group loved — it's been a while! 🤤
(I'd already been a few times myself and knew it was good, so I brought my friends along~)
Four friends who are all pretty picky eaters came with me, and everyone said 'let's come again' on the way out. Here's my honest review of Dwaeji Gongbang Bucheon Okgil-dong Main Branch!
Dwaeji Gongbang Bucheon Okgil-dong Main Branch: hours and reservation perks
Dwaeji Gongbang Bucheon Okgil-dong Main Branch is open 15:00–24:00, opening at 16:00 on weekends. If you make a Naver reservation ahead of time, you get a free tofu stew (sundubu-jjigae) — make sure to reserve! The stew quality is no joke..👍

They also give free baby rice and seaweed flakes 👶 — great for a family meal if you're bringing little ones.
Free corkage at Dwaeji Gongbang, with no limit on bottles
The best thing about Dwaeji Gongbang Bucheon Okgil-dong Main Branch is honestly their alcohol policy! If you also order drinks from the store's menu, corkage is completely free with no limit on the number of bottles! Perfect for bringing your own wine or whiskey from home to pair with the delicious meat!

Where to park in Okgil-dong: 3–4 spots out front plus Okgil Parking Tower
🅿️ There's space for about 3–4 cars right in front of the restaurant! If those spots are full, you can park nearby at Okgil Parking Tower (Okgil-dong 715-6) and get a 2-hour free parking ticket! We parked right out front and ate comfortably~

Parking hassles can really ruin a group outing, but this place makes it easy, plus the seats are spacious — keep it in mind if you're looking for a group meetup spot~

Wow — the restaurant has a lot of seats but it was completely full, so I couldn't get a shot of the whole place. True to its reputation as a top Okgil-dong pork BBQ spot, it was packed with customers. With 50+ seats, it looks great for small gatherings, large group dinners, or family meals too.
Self-serve banchan and the pickle combos worth trying

The meat here is great, but the side hits are honestly amazing too! 💥

There's a neatly organized self-serve corner off to the side, so you can refill on tasty side dishes without feeling awkward about it — so convenient!

(Pickled chili strips, pickled garlic scapes) Ah, and these two are seriously the highlight! Pickled sides wrapped with meat make an unbeatable combo... just writing this in the morning is making my mouth water again.
Ordering by kiosk at the table

Every table has its own kiosk for easy ordering. Now let's get to the actual food — I'm getting dizzy just thinking about it!
Spicy sundubu stew, steamed egg and spicy doenjang rice soup
First, the complimentary spicy tofu stew (sundubu-jjigae) has a deep, spicy broth that cuts right through the richness of the meat!

Mixing it with a bowl of rice while grinning happily is basically paradise.. the kind of delicious that makes a blood sugar spike totally forgivable. The free stew was so rich and tasty we ordered a second one.

We also ordered the steamed egg (gyeranjjim), a must with pork BBQ — fluffy and perfect as a side.
Spicy doenjang rice soup (eolkeun doenjang sulbap)

And the side dish you absolutely must add is the spicy doenjang rice porridge (doenjang sulbap) 🍲 The balance of doenjang and cheonggukjang gives it a savory, spicy depth that keeps you coming back for more. Take a bite of this right after the meat and you'll get that unmistakable look of pure satisfaction.
The mixed platter cut by cut: pork neck, rib meat, jowl, outer skirt
We ordered the mixed platter! It comes with thick pork neck, rib meat, jowl, and outer skirt (gabrisal), grilled to a golden brown over premium bincho-tan charcoal🔥
Each cut has such a different character, which makes eating even more fun!
Thick pork neck (moksal)
True to Dwaeji Gongbang's signature dish, the thickness stands out immediately! Careful knife-scoring makes it fluffy and tender despite being so thick. Savory and springy.

Rib meat (neukgansal)
Being the meat between the ribs, it has a chewy, satisfying texture that sticks to your palate. If you like a chewy bite, add rib meat~

Chewy pork jowl (kkodolsal)
True to its name, the first bite is 'kkodeul' — chewy and springy~ With a nice ratio of fat to lean meat, it's great for anyone who enjoys texture. Go for the jowl!

Outer skirt (gabrisal)
Light yet full of juicy moisture — it's perfect if you like tender meat 💛 Personally, gabrisal is my favorite!
Best combos: myeongi leaves, pickles and salted anchovy sauce

If you know your food, you'll already know this trick: place a well-grilled piece of thick pork neck on top of a wild garlic leaf (myeongi-namul),

then add a little pickle on top and wrap it up.

A pork BBQ place that serves salted anchovy sauce (melljeot) and white kimchi? I love you.. someone here knows what they're doing..
Put the melljeot on the grill, let it bubble up, then dip a well-cooked piece of meat in it — the savory, salty flavor blends with the meat's juices to make it even more delicious.👍
Why we would book Dwaeji Gongbang again: the meat quality
The meat quality really comes through even in photos

I love meat and eat out often at various places, and the reason I keep going back to Dwaeji Gongbang Bucheon Okgil-dong Main Branch is that the meat quality is good enough that I'm never embarrassed to bring friends, family, or acquaintances. It would be awkward to recommend a place and have the quality fall short..
I brought friends who traveled quite a distance, and I was relieved that all four of them left satisfied.

It's been a while since four food-savvy friends all came away completely satisfied 👏 From the meat quality, the charcoal, the side dish quality, the amazing spicy tofu stew and doenjang rice porridge, the friendly staff, to the parking convenience and free corkage perk — there was nothing to complain about in this group meal.
If you're looking for a great pork BBQ restaurant in Okgil-dong, head straight to Dwaeji Gongbang's main branch. I'm planning to visit again soon myself!
