Sushi Maiu Seolleung Station Branch (SUSHI MAIU) is a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant with the fun of picking your own plates.

I stopped by Sushi Maiu Seolleung Station Branch near Seolleung Station when I wanted something quick and simple. Since it's a conveyor-belt sushi specialist, I could pick out whatever sushi I wanted one plate at a time — and best of all, the atmosphere felt completely fine for eating alone.

Where to sit at Sushi Maiu: counter seats and table seats
Close to Seolleung Station, Sushi Maiu had counter seats surrounding the conveyor-belt rail right as I walked in, with table seats set up further inside.

The counter seats felt good for solo dining, but also fine for two people sitting side by side over sushi. There were table seats too, but the place was pretty full when I visited, so I quietly skipped taking photos there..🥲
How ordering works: take it off the rail or tick the menu
Watching the sushi spin around and around, you just want to grab a plate🥰 You can pick sushi straight off the belt as it goes by, or check the menu to order exactly what you want.

The menu had a good range of price points, so it was easy to pick from lighter, everyday sushi all the way up to something a little more special.

I ordered mostly what I was craving, one plate at a time, and cleared a total of 7 plates🍽️
Seven plates one by one, from salmon aburi to egg sushi
Salmon aburi sushi

The first to arrive was salmon aburi sushi. The aburi style adds a slight torched flavor over soft salmon, so the first thing I noticed was the rich, oily savoriness of the salmon. Inside, the salmon was moist and soft.
Tako wasabi (octopus with wasabi)

I liked how generously the octopus was piled on. The chewy texture of the octopus paired with a little kick of wasabi really woke up the palate.
Flying fish roe gunkan roll

Loaded generously with flying fish roe! I could really feel that popping texture with each bite. Salty yet savory, and eaten together with the rice, the signature flavor of the gunkan roll really came through.
Tuna belly sushi

Nice and thick tuna belly! What more can I say..🤭 It melted softly in my mouth, releasing the tuna's signature savory, oily richness. The price difference from otoro was only ₩1,000, so I hesitated a bit while ordering... but thinking back on it after eating, I should have gone for the otoro😋
Halibut fin (engawa) sushi
My beloved engawa🖤

The halibut fin's signature crunchy yet chewy texture with a savory fattiness came through, and as always, it was delicious. Two pieces vanished in an instant✨
Sea urchin sushi

My personal highlight was the sea urchin sushi🍣 The signature dense, rich flavor of sea urchin really came through. It melted softly in my mouth, spreading with oceanic aroma and savory taste. It just melted away in my mouth🫠
Egg sushi

The last one was a clean finish with egg sushi🍳 The sweet, fluffy egg paired well with the rice, making it a good palate cleanser to end the meal.

Is Sushi Maiu worth it for solo sushi near Seolleung Station?
Short and intense, I cleared 7 plates🍽️ Prices varied by menu item, so I could order sushi I actually wanted, and with such a variety of sushi types, it was easy to pick according to my taste. There are counter seats that make solo dining feel comfortable, so I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for solo sushi dining near Seolleung Station! The sushi was fresh overall, and there was fun in the conveyor-belt format itself, plus the fun of picking exactly the menu items I wanted. From my beloved engawa to sea urchin and tuna belly, finishing off with egg sushi at the end — I was so satisfied🥰
