In short

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch (더돌판 산본점) is a Korean restaurant specializing in stone-plate oje bokkeum (squid and pork stir-fry), 50 meters from Exit 3 of Sanbon Station in Gunpo, Gyeonggi. The oje bokkeum set for two costs 31,000 won, and adding the stone-pot steamed egg for 6,000 won brought chewy jjolmyeon noodles and doenjang stew alongside the basic spice level, enough to fill two people. It's getting colder these days and I keep craving spicy food 🥺 You know those days when you want that bright red seasoning that totally wakes up your appetite, eaten right along with plain white rice? That was exactly the kind of day I was having, so after some deliberation I went to Deodolpan Sanbon Branch, a Gunpo restaurant, for some spicy oje bokkeum.

Squid and pork stir-fried together — oje bokkeum — plus chewy noodles, and to finish, a big stone pot of steamed egg. I ate my fill of spicy food that day haha. I figured spicy-food lovers would be curious, so today I'm sharing my hands-on review of Deodolpan, a Gunpo restaurant!

Where is Deodolpan Sanbon Branch, and what are the hours and parking?

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch is on the 2nd floor at 16-7 Sanbon-ro 323beon-gil, Gunpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, and it's open daily from 11:00 to 22:00. Break time is 15:00–16:00, last order is at 21:00, and takeout, reservations, delivery, and group visits are all available. For parking, use the Sanbon Station public parking lot.

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch was about 50m from Exit 3 of Sanbon Station. Being so close to the station makes it a convenient spot even for a drinking plan. We walked over from the station, but if you're driving, note that this is a central commercial area so dedicated parking support is hard to come by — I'd recommend using a nearby public parking lot!

Inside Deodolpan Sanbon Branch: the room and the menu

Deodolpan was easy to spot from outside, and after heading up to the 2nd floor of the visible building, we found the space was bigger than I expected. Since it's a fairly new restaurant, the clean and tidy vibe was nice too. The far end of the restaurant has a full wall of glass windows, which makes it feel bright and spacious — a plus!

Oje bokkeum set for two: ₩31,000. Stone-pot steamed egg: ₩6,000. Looking at the menu board on the wall, there was a nice variety — plain squid stir-fry, pork stir-fry, and oje bokkeum among the stone-plate stir-fry menu! The set menus also let you choose between doenjang stew or cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew, +₩1,000), and they come with chewy noodles too, so it felt quite hearty. What we ordered that day was the oje set for two, plus a side of stone-pot steamed egg!

What side dishes come with the meal?

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch's basic side dishes were bean sprouts, stir-fried fish cake, pickled radish, and young radish kimchi — four kinds. Once we sat down, they were brought over one by one, and since they were mostly sides that go well with spicy stir-fry, it was nice to keep picking at them in between bites!

In particular, eating a piece of pickled radish after the spicy seasoning felt like it reset my mouth, so I kept reaching for it haha. By the way, when it gets too spicy, eating pickled radish together with the bean sprouts helps calm the heat down a bit.

There was also a self-serve bar set up on one side of the restaurant, and what we discovered there was udon broth! We ladled some out for a warm sip, and it's the kind of thing that seems like nothing much but, you know how it is,,, you just keep thinking about that taste,,, 💕

Sign explaining how to enjoy the dish and the spice level guide

How many spice levels does the oje bokkeum have?

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch's spice level is split into levels 1, 2, 3, and 4. I also read closely the notice on how to enjoy Deodolpan even more deliciously! If you love spicy food, level 4 might be worth trying... We had the basic level, and honestly even that was spicy for someone like me who can't handle heat haha.

What arrives with the 31,000 won oje bokkeum set for two?

The oje bokkeum for two piled high on the stone plate

Finally, the oje bokkeum for two arrived! It came out piled generously on the stone plate, and the portion looked pretty hearty right off the bat, which I liked. Oje bokkeum, as the name suggests, is squid and pork stir-fried together, and with the red seasoning covering the whole stone plate, it was clearly the spicy food I'd been craving that day.

And one thing I really liked was how generous the cabbage was! With plenty of vegetables mixed in between the meat and squid, eating them together gave good texture, and the mild sweetness of the vegetables added something to the spicy seasoning. Especially with the crunchy bite of the cabbage, it was so much better than just eating meat the whole time haha.

And looking further in, there were chewy noodles mixed in too! ✨ Here you're not just eating squid and meat — you get to eat noodles in between, which made it fun haha. Eating the thin noodles fully soaked in the seasoning was another spicy delicacy on its own.

Wrapping the stir-fry in perilla leaves

And the combo I made sure to try here was wrapping oje bokkeum in a perilla leaf! 😗 Loading up one perilla leaf with squid, pork, and cabbage, rolling it up, and eating it in one bite — the fragrant perilla leaf aroma added to it and it was genuinely delicious. The spicy seasoning went so well with the perilla leaf that I kept eating it this way haha.

The doenjang stew included in the set

I also tried the doenjang stew that comes with the set, and the portion was more generous than I expected too! It had that proper savory doenjang flavor, so eating a spoonful in between bites of the spicy stir-fry really switched things up nicely. It went well with rice too, and alternating between it and the oje bokkeum, before I knew it I was just drinking the broth haha.

How big is the 6,000 won stone-pot steamed egg?

And then there was the steamed egg we ordered as a side! It wasn't a small stone pot — it came out generously filled in a genuinely big stone pot. Thanks to that, even with two of us continuously scooping it with spoons, the amount barely seemed to go down haha. The steamed egg had a soft, fluffy texture, perfect for eating in between bites of the spicy oje bokkeum! Best of all, ordering just one side gave us such a generous amount that it felt unexpectedly filling haha. Between the oje bokkeum for two, the doenjang stew, and the steamed egg, the two of us finished the meal quite full.

Looking for spicy Korean food near Sanbon Station?

Trying the oje bokkeum at Deodolpan Sanbon Branch this time hit the spot for the spicy food I was craving haha. It's close to Sanbon Station too, so it's easy to get to, and the restaurant is spacious, which seemed great for eating with friends or visiting in a group ❤️

Next time I have one of those days when I'm really craving spicy food, I think this will be my go-to recommendation for a Gunpo restaurant haha!! If you've been looking for a spicy stone-plate stir-fry in Gunpo where you can have squid and pork together, give Deodolpan Sanbon Branch a try 💜
