Today I went to Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch (온정경양식당 산본학원가점) in Sanbon for some pork cutlet!! I'm not usually a huge fan of Western-style gyeongyangsik pork cutlet lol, but after trying this, it was way better than I expected — honestly changed my mind about the whole style! Let me introduce it to anyone looking for a good pork cutlet spot in Sanbon 👉🏻
Where is Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch, and when is it open?

Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch is located near the academy district in Sanbon! I actually go there fairly often and had no idea a place this good was here 😋

- 📍 5-11 Sanbon-ro 386beon-gil, Samdae Building 1F #103, Gunpo, Gyeonggi, South Korea
- ⏰ Daily 11:00–21:00 (closed Mondays)

There were about 7 tables, but only around 2 four-person tables!!

The place isn't small, but by the time we finished eating there was already a wait!!

Warm rice and side dishes are available as free self-serve refills, so anyone who needs more food can eat their fill!!

There's been a lot of controversy about Chinese-made kimchi lately, but they use domestic Korean kimchi here, so I could eat with even more peace of mind haha. The owner was also really friendly, so I had a comfortable meal. If you're looking for a solo lunch spot in Sanbon, or a casual meal with friends or family in Gunpo Sanbon, this seems like a solid choice.
Menu and prices: how do the noodle and cutlet sets work?
At Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch we ordered two things: the buckwheat noodle & pork cutlet set for 14,500 won, and the udon & cheddar cheese cutlet set for 15,000 won. The set menu lets you pair udon or buckwheat noodles with whichever cutlet you want.

The menu is posted on the wall!

Once you're seated, you order through the kiosk!!
Does the gyeongyangsik pork cutlet stay crispy under the poured sauce?
After waiting about 10 minutes, the food came out and I was surprised at how generous the portions were!! Let me introduce them one by one ~

First up, the classic gyeongyangsik pork cutlet!!
Honestly, I'm not usually a big fan of the Western-style cutlet ㅠㅠ I don't eat it often because I hate how the sauce makes the cutlet soggy, but here, even with the sauce poured over it (bumeok, or

The buckwheat noodles that came with it were especially good!! Eating them right when I was getting tired of the cutlet gave a refreshing, palate-cleansing effect. So I'd recommend the basic gyeongyangsik cutlet too, for anyone hunting for a good Sanbon pork cutlet spot!

Is the cheddar cheese pork cutlet too rich?
Next up, the cheddar cheese cutlet!! True to its name, it comes topped generously with cheddar cheese sauce, giving it a much softer, richer flavor. Adding the deep cheese taste to the crispy cutlet gave it a totally different appeal from the basic gyeongyangsik cutlet!!

Before eating I thought it might be too greasy, but I never got tired of it even after finishing the whole thing!! If you like cheese, I'd say go ahead and order the cheddar cheese cutlet 🧀

How big is the udon that comes with the set?
And here's what I really liked — the udon! Usually the udon that comes with a cutlet set is a small bowl with a little noodle and a little broth, right? ㅠㅠ But here it came with plenty of fishcake and other toppings and a generous amount of noodles, so it didn't feel like a side dish at all — it felt like a proper bowl of udon on its own.
The hot udon broth paired really well with the cutlet, and taking a bite of it between bites of cutlet was great haha. I think this is a Gunpo Sanbon restaurant that can satisfy even people with a big appetite!
