Suwon café for avocado smoothies after a fortress walk: Caffeine Focus

In short

Caffeine Focus is a café in Suwon, Gyeonggi, near the walls of Hwaseong Fortress. I tried an avocado smoothie and vanilla bean Basque cheesecake, then relaxed by the fortress from its terrace and third-floor windows. A place I’d happily revisit for a date before or after a fortress walk.

A café to visit before or after a Hwaseong Fortress walk

On days like these, when a cool breeze is blowing, I naturally think of the peaceful scenery at Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, where even simply walking around lifts your mood. Is there any date more romantic than strolling along the fortress path with your partner and sharing little stories?!?

Let me introduce Caffeine Focus (카페인포커스), a Suwon Hwaseong Fortress-view café in the perfect location for a date, with both an open view and an atmospheric feel.

Right beside the fortress path and the café atmosphere

Located right near the walls of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, it has an ideal route for visiting before or after a date. It is great for quenching your thirst with a cool drink after a leisurely walk along the fortress path, or for heading out on a romantic evening walk along the walls after chatting warmly at the café.

As soon as you step inside, the warm, atmospheric interior welcomes you. There are outdoor terrace seats on the first and third floors, making it perfect for breathing in the open air and taking your time in this pleasantly cool, outdoor-friendly weather.

The convenience for visitors also stood out. There are clean restrooms on both the first and third floors, so it was really easy to use them while moving between the spaces.

How were the drinks and desserts?

The view was not the only lovely thing—the quality of the desserts and drinks went far beyond my expectations too. For anyone wondering what to order, here is the menu and my review of the desserts I actually ordered.

The drinks and bakery lineup is nicely put together, with plenty of choices for different tastes. I ordered some of the signature popular items.

Avocado smoothie and vanilla bean Basque cheesecake

The avocado smoothie, wonderfully mild and nutty, is ₩7,000. This avocado drink really captures avocado’s distinctively restrained, savory flavor and deep nuttiness. The smooth taste stays enjoyable rather than becoming tiresome as you drink, and I was so satisfied. I strongly recommend it to anyone after a healthy yet refined flavor.

Sometimes smoothies leave a slightly chalky finish, but the avocado smoothie has a clean finish too!!!

The ultimate moist dessert, the vanilla bean Basque cheesecake, is ₩8,000. The Basque cheesecake we ordered was crisp and chewy on the outside but truly moist within, melting away the moment it hit my mouth. It would probably pair even better with coffee, but it surprisingly went well with the smoothie too~

A relaxed second-floor space

Inside the café, each floor has a different charm. The second floor first of all feels clean and orderly, while light streaming through the large windows gives it an even more relaxed feeling.

The seats are comfortably arranged with plenty of space between them, making this a great area for anyone who wants to spend time chatting or settle in and rest before taking in the fortress view.

The third floor and terrace overlooking Suwon Hwaseong Fortress

But if you visit here, do not hesitate—please, please go up to the third floor!!!! The third floor is truly the best seat in the house!

Through the wide floor-to-ceiling windows on the third floor, the scenery of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress fills your view at once. Looking out at the walls and green landscape, which hold the changing seasons just as they are, makes everyday stress feel as though it naturally melts away.

Especially from the counter-style seats on the third floor, the fortress view seems like it would make the mood of a date or get-together so much better~ There is also a restroom on the third floor, a small but major plus since you can enjoy the view without having to go downstairs~

A Suwon Hwaseong Fortress walk after dessert

After enjoying delicious desserts and conversation at Caffeine Focus, stepping outside and walking along the fortress walls feels even more special as softly glowing lights blend with the grassy scenery.

I highly recommend a special date at Caffeine Focus, where you can enjoy an open fortress view, moist and mild desserts, and a walk in the cool breeze all at once!!! I really want to visit again, and I will order the avocado smoothie even next time~ haha
