Bibim naengmyeon on a Saturday at Pyeongtaek's Seoul Myeonok
In short
Seoul Myeonok is a pyongyang naengmyeon (buckwheat cold noodle) restaurant near Pyeongtaek Station, run by the same family for 3 generations and 60 years. Visiting on a Saturday at 1:30pm, the writer had pyongyang naengmyeon, bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles), and a half-portion of domestic pork suyuk, and even a naengmyeon-averse eater loved the sweet-spicy bibim naengmyeon. The suyuk and bibim naengmyeon combo was Seoul Myeonok's winning pair.

3-generation, 60-year old-school exterior and vibe

This is Seoul Myeonok, a Pyeongtaek Station restaurant. Even the exterior gives off serious old-school authentic-restaurant vibes — apparently it's been run by the same family for 3 generations and 60 years!!!

It's so famous as a Pyeongtaek Station restaurant that there's apparently a wait haha. Nice touch from the owner! There's a public parking lot nearby, but um... you know, it's one of those areas off-limits to minors ㅠㅠ women walking around,,, ㅠㅜㅜ I was really surprised. I can't believe there's a place like that near Pyeongtaek Station….!!!!! If you have young kids, please drop them off first ㅠㅠ

This was around 1:30pm on a Saturday! Even though lunch rush was over, there were still so many people haha, and a lot of young people too.

Seoul Myeonok menu and prices

Here's the menu at this Pyeongtaek Station restaurant. Pyongyang naengmyeon ₩11,000, bibim naengmyeon ₩11,000, yukgaejang ₩13,000, galbitang ₩15,000, braised short rib, suyuk (boiled pork), grilled pork bulgogi, and more — the variety and value are great! It's nice to come with people who don't like naengmyeon since there's plenty else to eat. We ordered pyongyang naengmyeon + bibim naengmyeon + a half-portion of domestic pork suyuk!
Domestic pork suyuk, half portion — just right for two

The suyuk came out first. It's domestic pork simmered until super tender and delicious haha.

This suyuk at the Pyeongtaek Station restaurant was the perfect size for two! The radish kimchi served alongside was tasty too haha. This combo with bibim naengmyeon is absolutely the best, so you have to try it.

Not a hint of gamey smell, and honestly better than plenty of suyuk-specialty restaurants ✨ I came for the naengmyeon but the suyuk was really excellent too. I saw a lot of people ordering the bulgogi too haha — but I recommend the suyuk!!
How was the pyongyang naengmyeon broth and noodles

The Pyeongtaek Station pyongyang naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon have arrived! Even at the affordable price of ₩11,000, the portion is generous ~

Seoul Myeonok, this Pyeongtaek Station restaurant, keeps the essence of pyongyang naengmyeon while adding more savory depth — it's the kind of place where you first realize the charm of pyongyang naengmyeon haha.

The noodles are wonderfully chewy!!! Apparently they've kept to a meticulous traditional method for the broth for 60 years, giving it a clean yet deep flavor.
Bibim naengmyeon that won over even a picky eater

And then, the bibim naengmyeon I fell for. Honestly, I have pretty picky, kid-like tastes, so I absolutely never eat pyongyang naengmyeon — but Seoul Myeonok's bibim naengmyeon at this Pyeongtaek Station restaurant is mild yet sweet-and-spicy, not overpowering, and I just kept eating more!!! Even someone with kid tastes like me genuinely loved it.

Addictive noodles with sauce that keeps you coming back for more. This is really a Pyeongtaek Station restaurant where even people who dislike pyongyang naengmyeon can enjoy themselves!! It's a flavor that's both familiar and new, and I genuinely enjoyed it haha.

Like I mentioned before, the suyuk + bibim naengmyeon combo at this Pyeongtaek Station restaurant is truly a must-try winning combination haha. So delicious, I inhaled it haha.

The meat pieces on top are nice and hearty too. I'd heard naengmyeon is usually pretty pricey, but at this price with such generous toppings >< this is definitely a great-value Pyeongtaek Station restaurant.

You can tell it's a Pyeongtaek Station favorite just by looking at the empty bowl, right? Haha. I was expecting good things given the old-school vibe and the crowds, and now I understand why it's so popular. Ate it all up happily haha.
Overall verdict
A great-value Pyeongtaek Station restaurant. People who love pyongyang naengmyeon will love it, and even people who don't can happily enjoy the bibim naengmyeon.
