Sunday evening no-wait pyongyang naengmyeon at Seoul Myeonok
In short
Seoul Myeonok is a pyongyang naengmyeon (North Korean cold buckwheat noodle) restaurant right in front of Pyeongtaek Station, Gyeonggi, running for three generations since 1973. A summer weekend lunch visit ended in a walk-away due to waiting, but a cooler Sunday evening return brought pyongyang naengmyeon, bibim naengmyeon, and a half plate of domestic pork belly bossam. Between the mild-broth naengmyeon, the subtly savory bibim naengmyeon, and tender boiled pork, two people left completely full.

The naengmyeon restaurant in front of Pyeongtaek Station that gets waits in summer
Pyeongtaek Station waiting-list restaurant, the pyongyang naengmyeon spot featured on Life of Masters — 'Seoul Myeonok' (menu recommendations included) (takeout available, delivery available)
Seoul Myeonok, the Pyeongtaek pyongyang naengmyeon restaurant right in front of Pyeongtaek Station that gets a wait in summer. I actually went once on a summer weekend for lunch and had to leave without eating because of the wait, haha, so sad.

You can feel the 'good restaurant' vibe just from the sign. Seoul Myeonok has been running since 1973 and is now on its third generation.

Seoul Myeonok even appeared on Life of Masters as a pyongyang naengmyeon master shop. A month ago it was so hot and I was so hungry, but I had to skip it because of the wait... today I finally gave it a shot on a nice, cool evening!!

Even on a Sunday evening, Seoul Myeonok had quite a lot of customers. Delivery riders kept coming by too, so it seems like a lot of people order delivery as well.

Ordering is via tablet, and warm broth waits at the entrance
Ordering and payment are done through a tablet at the table :) Paper cups, mustard, and vinegar are basically already set out.

Near the entrance there's a Catch Table waiting kiosk along with small plates, wet wipes, kids' spoons, and broth. The broth was hot and savory, perfect right before the naengmyeon ><

Recommended combo for two: pyongyang naengmyeon + bibim naengmyeon + half plate of bossam
What we ordered: pyongyang naengmyeon, bibim naengmyeon, and domestic pork belly bossam (half plate). If there are two of you, I highly recommend this combo 👍🏻

Such a generous spread! Three bowls of naengmyeon plus pollack sashimi salad, dried radish strips, pickled naengmyeon radish, bossam with ssamjang, salted shrimp, and chili & garlic.

Bibim naengmyeon — mild enough for anyone to enjoy
This is the bibim naengmyeon my companion ordered, and the savory depth is amazing!!! It's not the spicy-sweet, in-your-face kind — it's subtle, and honestly this is a bibim naengmyeon anyone could enjoy ❤️

Look at how springy the noodles are >< Truly delicious through and through!! And I love that it's not spicy, makes it even better. Total standout dish 🩷

Pyongyang naengmyeon — a broth even beginners can handle
The pyongyang naengmyeon at Seoul Myeonok has a broth flavor that's not too meaty, so even naengmyeon beginners can enjoy it!

The broth is so refreshing and full of savory depth >< One spoonful of the pyongyang naengmyeon broth and the summer heat just melts away! Now I get why there's a wait in summer ♥
It also pairs perfectly with the pollack sashimi salad! The meat toppings on the pyongyang naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon are different, but both were boiled soft and tender ><

Domestic pork belly bossam, half plate — perfect for two to try
It's amazing that they even sell a half plate of bossam 👍🏻 Perfect for two people who just want to sample it!

Just look at that visual, so delicious-looking ♥ Springy and tender, this is truly well-boiled bossam!

The meat itself is delicious enough on its own, but the dried radish strips are so good that the combo with them is the best ❤️

Reason to come back
Two naengmyeon bowls plus a half plate of bossam for two people, truly the best combo! We left delicious and completely stuffed :) I'll be back whenever I'm craving this naengmyeon >< A waiting-list restaurant is a waiting-list restaurant for a reason!
